Latest pig price news
According to a report from Agriculture and Environment, the current price of live pigs at the farm in Tien Giang fluctuates between 7 and 7.2 million VND/quintal, down about 300,000 VND/quintal compared to last week. However, farmers still make a profit of about 2 million VND/quintal in this context.
Notably, livestock farming costs have increased significantly during the current period, especially those related to African swine fever prevention, which is at risk of re-emergence.
Statistics as of May 31 showed that the total pig herd in Tien Giang reached about 350,000 heads, an increase of 24% over the same period last year, thanks to the prolonged high price of live pigs, promoting herd restoration in districts such as Cho Gao, Go Cong Tay, Chau Thanh, and Tan Phuoc, especially with farm models of over 100 heads and contract farming.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tien Giang confirmed that no dangerous disease outbreaks were recorded in livestock in May. Since the beginning of the year, African swine fever has appeared in 6 households in 6 communes in 4 districts (Chau Thanh, Go Cong Tay, Cho Gao, Tan Phuoc), with 105 infected pigs out of a total of 120 pigs, which have been destroyed, equivalent to 2,684 kg.
In addition, a case of foot-and-mouth disease was detected at a slaughterhouse in Hau My Bac A commune, Cai Be district, with a sick pig weighing 110 kg being destroyed. Currently, livestock farmers, businesses, and slaughterhouses are coordinating with the veterinary sector to strengthen disease prevention measures, ensuring a safe source of meat for the market.

According to observations on the morning of June 8, the price of Meat Deli chilled pork on the website winmart.vn remained stable at 119,922 - 163,122 VND/kg. Currently, Meat Deli is applying a 20% discount for WinMart members, in which ground pork has the lowest price of 119,922 VND/kg, while pork belly leads at 163,122 VND/kg.
This morning, a survey at Ha Hien Fresh Food Company showed that pork prices continued to remain stable, ranging from 85,000 - 181,000 VND/kg. Notably, pork ribs and pig tails held the highest positions at 181,000 VND/kg and 168,000 VND/kg, respectively, while pork fat was the lowest priced product at 85,000 VND/kg. Other types ranged from 125,000 - 159,000 VND/kg.
