* The live hog market in the North decreased by 1,000 VND/kg in Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Thai Binh and Hanoi, currently trading in the range of 53,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
The remaining provinces in the region have no new price fluctuations.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 53,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions have slightly decreased in many places.
Specifically, traders in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam , Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan all purchased live pigs at 53,000 VND/kg after lowering the price by 1,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in other provinces are still traded at the old price today.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 52,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, the price of live pigs in Ca Mau decreased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg to 54,000 VND/kg.
Vinh Long and Can Tho provinces both reduced by 2,000 VND/kg to 52,000 VND/kg and 53,000 VND/kg, respectively.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 50,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
* The average price of live pigs nationwide is only 53,000 VND/kg, approximately the same as the price of live pigs in China at 51,800 VND. The downward trend has not shown any signs of stopping, partly due to the impact of the epidemic in some places, so farmers are taking advantage of selling their pigs early to avoid the epidemic, resulting in abundant supply.
In addition, farmers initially kept pigs waiting for prices, but the price has been falling for more than a month now, forcing them to sell their pigs, causing the meat output supplied to the market based on the number of pigs also to increase.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam's meat and meat product exports continued to increase in August 2023, reaching 1.92 thousand tons, worth 10.16 million USD, up 38.1% in volume and 22% in value compared to August 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam exported 14.17 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 67.67 million USD, up 22.8% in volume and 34.9% in value over the same period in 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, fresh chilled or frozen pork (mainly suckling pigs and frozen whole pigs) was exported the most with 6.89 thousand tons, worth 40.28 million USD, down 0.7% in volume, but up 30% in value compared to the same period in 2022.
On the other hand, in August 2023, Vietnam imported 62.53 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 128.72 million USD, up 3.6% in volume, but down 0.7% in value compared to August 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam imported 418,93 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 851.76 million USD, up 1.9% in volume, but down 7.3% in value compared to the same period in 2022.
