Raw rice prices continue to rise
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the prices of some raw rice products increased significantly today. OM 380 rice increased by 150 VND, to 7,900 - 8,000 VND/kg. CL 555 rice increased sharply by 350 VND, to 8,550 - 8,650 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the prices of OM 18, IR 504 and 5451 rice remained stable.
At traditional markets, retail rice prices remain stable. Regular rice is at 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice fluctuates at 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg, and Nang Nhen rice remains at the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg.
Rice prices remain stable, transactions are slow
The fresh rice market in the western provinces such as Dong Thap, An Giang, Soc Trang and Ca Mau did not record any major fluctuations. New transactions were slow, prices remained stable at around 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg, depending on the type such as IR 50404, OM 18, OM 5451 or Dai Thom 8.
By-products and export markets
By-product prices such as IR504 fragrant rice bran increased slightly by VND200 to VND7,300 - 7,500/kg, while bran and rice husk prices remained stable. In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged, continuing to be higher than those of Thailand and India. 5% broken rice remained at USD377/ton, exceeding the price of the same type of rice from Thailand and India but still lower than that of Pakistan.
