Durian news today 7/21/2025
According to the General Department of Customs, in June, fruit and vegetable exports reached 807 million USD, up nearly 31% compared to the previous month and up over 20% compared to the same period last year. This is the first month the fruit and vegetable industry has recorded positive growth this year, after a series of 5 consecutive months of decline.
In July, the association preliminarily estimated that this industry could bring in more than 731 million USD, down more than 9% from the previous month but up nearly 33% over the same period last year.
In the first 7 months of the year, fruit and vegetable exports are estimated at more than 3.8 billion USD, down 2.2% over the same period last year.
One of the growth drivers in recent months, according to Mr. Muoi, comes from durian returning to the export track.
Faced with the pressure of durian being difficult to export due to China tightening its control over Cadmium and O-yellow content, businesses and growing areas have been more cautious in caring for and checking quality.
Notably, the export value of frozen durian increased sharply, including to the Thai market. In the first 6 months of the year, frozen durian recorded remarkable growth with 388 export lots, reaching 14,282 tons, an increase of more than 3 times compared to the same period last year.
With the goal of exporting fruits and vegetables for the whole year reaching 7.6 billion USD, an increase of 6.8% compared to 2024, the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry will have to achieve a turnover of about 4.55-4.9 billion USD in the last 6 months of the year. This is a challenging figure, when the durian industry still faces many difficulties and challenges. However, if the quarantine problem is resolved and the quality recovers well, especially in the autumn or upcoming crop in the Central Highlands, it is expected that in the third quarter, exports will accelerate and make a breakthrough.
