The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) in collaboration with export enterprises organized a training course on sustainable pepper development for farmers in Dak Nong province. The training course took place at the Bechamp Organic Agricultural Products Cooperative, Truong Xuan Commune, Dak Song District, attracting more than 100 farmers and cooperative members from districts and Gia Nghia City.
Here, people are provided with information on maximum residue levels (MRLs) in pepper and warnings from import markets. The content also focuses on identifying risks from tarpaulins that are susceptible to sudan, and instructions on safe pepper drying and storage procedures.
Representatives of export enterprises shared practical experiences in safe pepper production, along with valuable lessons learned from shipments that were returned due to not meeting quality standards.
Through this program, farmers in key pepper growing areas are raised about cultivation, processing and preservation techniques. At the same time, they are also warned and instructed on how to prevent the risk of chemical contamination, especially banned substances such as sudan.
The training is part of a series of efforts by VPSA and businesses to control pepper quality right from the production stage in key growing areas such as Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
The ultimate goal is to maintain the reputation and brand of Vietnamese pepper, meet strict standards from markets such as the EU, US, and Japan, and at the same time build a safe and sustainable product value chain from production to consumption.
