Petrovietnam and VIMC strengthen ties, promote marine economic development

The Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) and the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) have just signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement, opening a new development phase in the strategic relationship between the two core enterprises of the country, thereby promoting the development of the energy and maritime sectors.

Petrovietnam leaders stated that, in order to realize its development strategy in the new phase, meet the trust and expectations of the Party and State leaders, implement Conclusion 76-KL/TW dated April 24, 2024 of the Politburo, and align with the energy transition trend, Petrovietnam has identified a new development model with three strategic pillars: energy, industry, and services, with energy being the core pillar.

In this context, Petrovietnam aims to play a leading role in promoting the development of other sectors of the economy by creating linkages and cooperation with leading corporations and companies in the country and the region.

On June 17th, the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranking officially honored Petrovietnam, placing it 11th in the region, 5th in the energy sector, and as the largest company in Vietnam.

Given its role and position, Petrovietnam has been implementing comprehensive cooperation with corporations and enterprises such as Viettel , ACV, TKV, etc., to strengthen linkages, expand scale, increase production and business capacity, and optimize competitiveness.

This orientation demonstrates Petrovietnam's proactive approach in implementing the group's development strategy in the new phase, and is in line with the Prime Minister's directive on enhancing support and cooperation among economic groups.

VIMC is currently Vietnam's leading enterprise in the maritime, port, and logistics sector, with a system of key ports stretching from north to south, along with large-scale, modern maritime transport and logistics service capabilities; playing a crucial role in connecting international trade, developing the marine economy, and ensuring the national maritime supply chain.

Le Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam, affirmed that Petrovietnam and VIMC share similarities in their core activities related to the sea. Furthermore, the signing of the agreement between the two parties took place at a favorable time when the Party, State, National Assembly, and Government are issuing numerous resolutions guiding the development of businesses, especially state-owned enterprises, as well as removing institutional obstacles to business operations.

In the spirit of close cooperation, optimizing and developing each other's strengths, Petrovietnam and VIMC will continue to research and develop new products and technologies in their operations and management, aiming to enhance the work and activities of both sides.

The signing of this comprehensive cooperation agreement will exponentially enhance the competitiveness of Petrovietnam and VIMC, contributing to the building and development of the national economy in accordance with the guiding principles of the Party and the State.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIMC, Le Anh Son, affirmed that cooperation with Petrovietnam, Vietnam's number one enterprise, will be the basis for both sides to develop together, optimize available resources, and contribute to building and developing the national economy in accordance with the spirit and goals that the Party, State, Government, and people expect from state-owned enterprises.

The comprehensive cooperation between Petrovietnam and VIMC will open a new chapter in the relationship between the two sides, promoting the development of Vietnam's maritime economy in general, and creating a foundation for Vietnamese businesses to enter the international market.

The event not only marks the strategic alignment between key sectors of the economy, but also contributes to the successful achievement of sustainable development goals, digital transformation, and industrialization and modernization of the country, strengthening linkages between national value chains, enhancing competitiveness, and promoting sustainable development.
