Strengthening coordination of propaganda on seas and islands in the period 2026 - 2030

On the afternoon of December 9, the Naval Region 2 Command coordinated to sign an agreement on coordination in propaganda work on seas and islands; propaganda to attract human resources; implementation of the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore" and the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children", period 2026 - 2030.

Colonel Do Hong Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 2, chaired the conference. Attending the conference were comrade Duong Anh Duc, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

317 propaganda sessions , more than 218,000 people reached

In the period of 2021 - 2025, the Party Committee and Command of Naval Region 2 coordinated with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of provinces and cities; the Center for National Defense and Security Education (Ho Chi Minh City National University) and businesses to organize 317 propaganda sessions for more than 218,000 people.

The content focuses on the position and strategic role of Vietnam's seas and islands; Vietnam's Law of the Sea; the political security situation in seas and islands; historical evidence affirming sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa; the Party and State's viewpoints on protecting sea and island sovereignty.

Region 2 also creates conditions for press agencies to work on duty ships, DK1 platforms and Con Dao special zone.

198 journalists and reporters participated in 8 sea trips, published many influential works, contributing to raising social awareness about the task of protecting sea and island sovereignty .

At the conference, delegates discussed and proposed many solutions to strengthen coordination in providing information and unifying propaganda content in the coming time.

At the same time, the units signed a cooperation agreement on propaganda work for the period 2026 - 2030.

Naval Region 2 signed a cooperation agreement with agencies and units.

In his concluding remarks, Colonel Do Hong Duyen hopes to continue receiving the close cooperation and cooperation of local Party committees and authorities; units and enterprises in the propaganda work on seas and islands and programs in the coming time.

Linking sea and island propaganda with marine economic development

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thi Thuy said that after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 330km of coastline; in the sea area managed by the city, there is the DK1 platform system.

Therefore, the propaganda work on seas and islands for the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee is always identified as a regular and long-term political task; associated with the propaganda to implement and concretize the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, especially concretizing the breakthrough programs of the Resolution of the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress on marine economy.

Ho Chi Minh City proposed to strengthen coordination in propaganda so that cadres, party members and people have a deeper understanding of sea and island sovereignty; combine propaganda with caring for the military's rear, supporting the families of cadres and soldiers on duty at sea; visit and give gifts to children of cadres, soldiers and fishermen in difficult circumstances.

In 2023, Naval Region 2 continues to be the Navy's pilot unit for the program "Navy sponsors fishermen's children".

Up to now, Region 2 has sponsored 20 students, each student is supported with 500,000 VND/month; on holidays, Tet, and the new school year, they are given gifts, bicycles, clothes, and school bags.
