Pepper price today 5/7/2025: Slight decrease in series

Faced with a decrease in supply but a sharp increase in demand, many experts predict that pepper export prices in the medium and long term will remain high.

In the US market, Vietnam is still the largest pepper supplier in the first two months of 2025, accounting for more than 60% of total imports.

However, this proportion has decreased compared to the same period last year, when Vietnam accounted for nearly 79% in volume. Meanwhile, Indonesia's market share has increased sharply, from 6.45% to more than 20%. India, Brazil and Sri Lanka also recorded similar increases.

The average import price from Vietnam reached 7,465 USD/ton, the highest among the main suppliers and up nearly 59% compared to the same period in 2024. In contrast, imported pepper from India had the lowest price, only 6,735 USD/ton. The US import trend shows that this country is diversifying its supply sources.

Therefore, to maintain their position, Vietnamese enterprises need to improve product quality, focusing on green and organic standards to meet increasingly stringent market requirements.

Pepper price today 7/5 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the pepper prices of all types traded in the international market on May 6 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,372 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices were also unchanged from yesterday at $9,985 per tonne.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price decreased slightly compared to yesterday, currently at 9,200 USD/ton (down 1.07%). In addition, the country's ASTA white pepper price remained stable compared to yesterday, reaching 11,900 USD/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,700 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton.

Global pepper supply is increasingly scarce as output in major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Brazil is affected by climate change, disease, labor shortages and rising input costs.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's pepper exports in the first two months of 2025 continued to increase sharply, doubling in volume and nearly 2.7 times in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 8,740 tons and earning 55.2 million USD. Indonesia increased exports to many major markets, notably Vietnam (up nearly 4 times), China (up nearly 9 times), the US and India also recorded strong increases.

Indonesia's average pepper export price during this period reached 6,317 USD/ton, up nearly 30% over the same period last year. This strong growth trend shows that Indonesia is increasingly asserting its role in the global pepper supply chain.
