World gold price today June 6, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 p.m. on June 6, Vietnam time, was 3,360.71 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 17.86 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,220 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 110.19 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 7.81 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices fell today but are on track for a weekly gain after US economic data this week raised expectations that the Federal Reserve will soon cut interest rates. Meanwhile, silver prices also jumped, reaching their highest level in more than 13 years.
Specifically, the spot gold price decreased by 0.53% but for the whole week, gold increased by about 1.77%. The US gold futures contract also increased by 0.5%, to 3,390.70 USD/ounce.
According to precious metals trader Alexander Zumpfe from Heraeus Metals (Germany), the higher-than-expected US jobless claims data, the highest in 7 months, showed that the labor market was weakening and had a stronger impact on gold prices than the positive news from the rare phone call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
However, the focus of the market now is the US non-farm payrolls report, which will be released later the same day (Vietnam time). Many analysts expect this report to show that the number of new jobs increased by only about 130,000 in May, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.2%.
Zumpfe said that if the US labor market continues to show signs of weakness, the Fed will be under greater pressure to ease monetary policy. A rate cut could boost gold prices further in the near term, as the precious metal typically benefits from a low-interest-rate environment, which reduces the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets such as gold.
In the short term, gold is struggling to break higher, prompting investors to turn to silver and platinum, which are currently undervalued and have more upside potential, said Ole Hansen of Saxo Bank.
Meanwhile, spot silver rose 0.2% to $36.23 an ounce after hitting its highest since early 2011. Platinum rose 2.7% to $1,163.95, its highest in more than two years, while palladium rose 1.4% to $1,019.62 an ounce.
