World gold price today July 18, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 6:30 p.m. on July 18, Vietnam time, was 3,351.48 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 25.84 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,340 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 109.89 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 11.08 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
World gold prices increased slightly today after the previous decline, but still recorded a decrease in the week due to the market's reduced concerns about the possibility of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) being affected by politics, along with positive US economic data.
Spot gold rose 0.78% after falling 1.1% in the previous session. For the week, gold prices fell slightly by 0.2%. US gold futures fell 0.3% to $3,354.70 an ounce.
The dollar fell 0.4% on the day but remained on track for a two-week winning streak. A stronger dollar typically makes gold more expensive for investors using other currencies.
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump reportedly considered firing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, but Trump later said he had no plans to replace him despite continuing to criticize the interest rate policy. Meanwhile, U.S. economic data showed retail sales rose more than expected in June, and jobless claims were better than expected.
The market is still concerned about the Fed’s independence, but that risk has eased, said UBS commodities analyst Giovanni Staunovo. Stable US economic data also makes it difficult for gold prices to rise sharply. However, Mr. Trump’s desire for the Fed to cut interest rates aggressively has also helped prevent gold prices from falling too much.
Adrian Ash, an expert from BullionVault, commented that although gold prices may face difficulties in the short term without a new policy shock, the long-term upward trend is still reinforced by demand for gold from central banks and investors.
Silver, platinum and palladium are drawing more attention due to their potential growth in industrial demand. Platinum rose 1% to $1,472.20 an ounce, its highest since August 2014. Palladium rose 1.4% to $1,297.78, while silver was flat at $38.12.
