World gold price today 7/21/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 p.m. on July 21, Vietnam time, was 3,365.24 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 14.27 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,340 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 110.34 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 11.16 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
World gold prices increased slightly in the first trading session of the week as the USD weakened, while investors were cautious ahead of the August 1 deadline, when the US could impose new tariffs if it fails to reach a trade agreement with its partners.
Specifically, according to Vietnam time, spot gold price increased by 0.43%, while gold futures price in the US also increased accordingly to 3,373.2 USD/ounce.
A slight support for gold comes from a weaker US dollar, said UBS commodities analyst Giovanni Staunovo. Specifically, the US dollar strength index fell 0.2%, indicating that downward pressure on the currency is still present.
As the August 1 tariff deadline approaches, investors are focused on whether the US can reach a trade deal. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he is confident the US can reach a deal with the European Union. August 1 is still the deadline for the tariffs to be implemented if there is no progress.
Gold is often seen as a safe haven investment during times of economic uncertainty, and is especially valuable when interest rates are low. Investors are now turning their attention to the next meeting of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) on July 29-30, after the agency decided to keep interest rates unchanged at the previous meeting.
According to experts at ANZ bank, high inflation expectations and positive US economic data are reducing the possibility of the Fed cutting interest rates sharply this year. However, the buy-the-dip strategy is still applied by many investors, creating a support zone for gold prices and limiting the risk of a deep decline.
Last week, Fed Governor Christopher Waller still expressed the view that the US central bank should proceed with a rate cut at its upcoming meeting, showing that there are still differences of opinion within the Fed on policy.
On the other hand, trade data showed China reduced its gold imports in June, the second consecutive month of decline, reflecting weakening physical demand in the world's largest market.
Apart from gold, other precious metals also recorded slight gains. Spot silver rose 0.6% to $38.39 an ounce, while platinum rose 1.8% to $1,447.30 an ounce and palladium rose 1.5% to $1,259 an ounce.
