World gold price today 05/08/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 am today, Vietnam time, was at 3,387.22 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 0.23% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,395 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 107.7 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 14.5 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

World gold price developments in the past 24 hours.

According to Reuters, world gold prices fell more than 1%, pressured by a stronger US dollar and optimism about US-China trade negotiations, while focus was on the Federal Reserve's policy decision.

Spot gold fell 1% to $3,395.29 an ounce by 09:57 ET (13:57 GMT). U.S. gold futures lost about 0.6% to $3,403.50. The dollar rose 0.2% against a basket of currencies. A stronger dollar makes gold more expensive for holders of other currencies.

Gold, seen as a hedge against geopolitical risks, has gained 29.4% year-to-date.

“While we see limited upside potential (for gold) in the short term, we expect prices to move higher again in the second half of 2025, potentially reaching $4,000,” Bank of America said.

China's central bank added gold to its reserves in April for the sixth straight month, official data showed.

Meanwhile, the Fed's policy decision is due at 2 p.m. ET (1800 GMT) today, followed by a speech by Chairman Jerome Powell. Markets will be watching for clues on the policy outlook.

“If the Fed surprises and is much more hawkish than the market expects, we see strong support above $3,100,” Melek added.

The Fed has indicated in the past that it is in no rush to cut interest rates and the market consensus is that there will be no cut before July. Higher interest rates tend to put pressure on bullion because it does not yield.

Spot silver fell 1.4% to $32.81 an ounce, platinum fell 0.1% to $986.15 and palladium inched up 0.7% to $981.03.
