The demand for travel during the September 2nd holiday among Vietnamese tourists is not high, so airfare prices close to the date are still relatively stable.
According to many people working in the tourism industry, this year's September 2nd holiday has no fluctuations in hotel rooms or airfares. Compared to the peak summer season, airfares on September 2nd are "quite soft", even much cheaper because this period is close to the school year, so there is less demand for travel.
Ms. Hoang Tuyet, Director of Top One Travel, a unit specializing in retail tourism services, commented that the number of flights to "hot" tourist destinations on the occasion of September 2 is still very high, and prices have not fluctuated. The route from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc ( Kien Giang ), departing on August 31 and returning on September 3, costs about 1.2 million VND each way if choosing Vietravel Airlines or Vietjet Air.
On the same day, same route, customers can choose Bamboo Airways for about 1.4 million VND each way. Vietnam Airlines ' ticket price is the highest but no flight exceeds 2 million VND each way for this route.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi to Da Nang route (departing on September 1, returning on September 4) costs about VND2.7 million for a round trip. According to Google data, this price has decreased by about VND100,000 compared to the end of the peak summer tourist season.
The Hanoi - Phu Quoc route is also considered by many tourism professionals to have a stable price, about 4.3 million VND round trip if traveling at "bad times" and nearly 5 million VND round trip for better times. Mr. Bui Thanh Tu, Marketing Director of Best Price, commented that if tourists buy tickets two weeks in advance, the price is more reasonable. However, he said the current price is also much more acceptable than the "peak" of about 9 million VND round trip on April 30.

Responding to VnExpress , the owner of an agency specializing in selling retail travel services said that the economic recession has affected tourism. Airfares often account for up to 60% of the total cost of a trip, so customers will consider choosing options to optimize this cost. This year, the owner of this agency did not "hold" holiday tickets (import tickets in advance to sell, profit from the difference) but only sold them on behalf of some other agencies.
"Parties that 'hold' airline tickets in the third quarter often refund them because the prices are not competitive. For some routes that cannot be refunded, traders have to lower the price compared to the system price to make it easier to sell," this person said.
Vietravel Airlines' report shows that the number of customers booking air tickets for the 4-day holiday is not as active as the same period last year. A week before the holiday, the occupancy rate of Vietravel Airlines' domestic flights only reached an average of nearly 72% and 86% for domestic and international flights. During the same period in 2022, the occupancy rate on all routes was always above 90%.
The airline's survey on August 22 showed that flights expected to serve a large number of passengers such as Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon; Phu Quoc; Da Nang, prices range from 1.2 to 1.4 million VND. Flights from Hanoi to Da Nang; Nha Trang range from 1.1 to 1.3 million VND.
"This reflects the situation where supply is greater than demand, so ticket prices are quite attractive compared to peak times in previous years," said a company representative.
