World crude oil falls on tariff concerns and rising inventories
In the international market, Brent and WTI oil prices continued to decline on the morning of July 17. The main reason came from investors' cautious sentiment in response to the US's tax measures targeting the EU and Russia. President Donald Trump announced that he could impose high tariffs on imported goods, raising concerns about a slowdown in global economic growth and a consequent decrease in oil demand.
However, the decline was somewhat limited by China's ramping up of production after maintenance to meet rising domestic fuel demand in the third quarter. OPEC also expects the global economy to recover positively in the second half of the year, helping to stabilize the energy market.
US fuel inventories rise, putting pressure on oil prices
According to a report from the American Petroleum Institute (API), US crude oil, gasoline and distillate inventories all increased sharply, contrary to previous forecasts. This prevented oil prices from recovering strongly in the context of oversupply. However, the market is still closely monitoring geopolitical factors and policies from the OPEC+ group to predict price trends in the coming time.
Domestic gasoline prices continue to increase from July 10
In the domestic market, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance increased gasoline prices in the latest adjustment period on July 10. Specifically, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline increased by VND210/liter, reaching VND19,650/liter, while RON95 increased by VND190/liter, reaching VND20,090/liter. Diesel and kerosene were also adjusted up, while fuel oil decreased slightly.
This adjustment reflects the fluctuations in world prices since the beginning of July, with a slight increase in finished product prices due to geopolitical tensions and rising oil inventories. Notably, this management period continues to not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.
Item | Price adjusted on 10/7/2025 (Unit: VND/liter) | Compared to yesterday 7/3/2025) (Unit: VND/liter/kg) |
Gasoline E5 RON 92-II | 19,659 | +214 |
Gasoline RON 95-III | 20,090 | +184 |
Diesel 0.05S | 18,837 | +429 |
Kerosene | 18,371 | +239 |
Fuel oil | 15,807 | -244 |
The market continues to closely monitor global supply and demand factors.
Although world oil prices have not shown signs of a sharp increase, many factors still have the potential to have a major impact on the market in the coming time. Among them, the developments in US-EU trade negotiations, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and summer consumption demand will be the main factors shaping the trend of global oil and gasoline prices.
