Brent and WTI oil both fell slightly

According to the update from oilprice at 12:00 (Vietnam time), WTI oil price decreased by 0.34 USD/barrel (0.55%) to 61.59 USD/barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil decreased by 0.34 USD/barrel (0.55%) to 65.03 USD/barrel.

The oil market continues to face a number of pressures. Recent reports showed an unexpected increase in US crude inventories, raising concerns about a supply glut in the near term. In addition, if the US and Iran reach a nuclear deal, Iranian oil supplies could return to the global market, creating further downward pressure on prices.

Goldman Sachs recently predicted that WTI oil prices could fall to $52 per barrel by 2026, as US energy policy continues to prioritize protecting consumers by keeping fuel prices low.

Gasoline prices today May 19, 2025: Domestic prices increase simultaneously, no allocation to the Stabilization Fund

In the operating period on May 15, 2025, domestic gasoline prices were adjusted up across the board, reflecting the slight upward trend of world oil prices in recent days. Accordingly, retail gasoline prices were all adjusted up compared to the previous operating period on May 8.

Specifically, E5 RON 92 gasoline was adjusted up by VND403/liter, currently with a maximum retail price of no more than VND19,180/liter. RON 95-III gasoline also increased by VND415/liter, to VND19,594/liter. This is the highest price of the two types of gasoline since the beginning of the second quarter.

For the oil group, the price of diesel 0.05S increased by 419 VND/liter, to 17,228 VND/liter. Kerosene increased by 285 VND/liter, reaching 17,226 VND/liter. Madut 180CST 3.5S recorded the strongest increase - 627 VND/kg, currently sold at no more than 16,160 VND/kg.

Notably, in this management session, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance decided not to set aside and not to use the Price Stabilization Fund for all petroleum products.

The fact that domestic prices are increasing in line with international trends shows that the market is entering a sensitive period to global macroeconomic fluctuations, especially OPEC+ policies, US oil reserves and developments from major trade negotiations.
