World oil prices recover slightly
At the beginning of the week, world oil prices increased slightly again after losing about 2% last week. Specifically, according to data from Oilprice on the morning of July 21, Vietnam time, Brent oil price reached 69.4 USD/barrel (up 0.12 USD), while WTI reached 67.51 USD/barrel (up 0.17 USD).
The slight recovery comes amid continued market concerns over global trade tensions and the impact of new European sanctions on Russia, including a cap on Russian oil prices to $47.6 a barrel and a ban on imports of refined products from Russia.
In addition, the US unexpectedly added 7 more oil rigs, bringing the total to 544 rigs, which is also a factor that has prevented oil prices from increasing sharply due to expectations that supply will be more abundant in the near future.
Domestic gasoline prices remain unchanged
In Vietnam, the retail price of gasoline today (July 21) continues to remain at the level that was adjusted on July 17. According to the decision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline is at 19,481 VND/liter, and RON95-III is at 19,925 VND/liter.
There are also no changes in the prices of oil products: diesel at VND18,799/liter, kerosene at VND18,429/liter, and fuel oil at VND15,478/kg. In this management period, the joint ministries did not allocate or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for any product.
Domestic retail prices of gasoline on July 21 are as follows:
Fuel type | Maximum price |
E5 RON92 gasoline | 19,481 VND/liter |
Gasoline RON95-III | 19,925 VND/liter |
Diesel 0.05S | 18,799 VND/liter |
Oil | 18,429 VND/liter |
Mazut oil 180CST 3.5S | 15,478 VND/kg |
Short-term outlook
Experts predict that world oil prices will continue to fluctuate in the coming time due to developments in global trade tensions, US import tax policies and the impact of new EU sanctions. Although they have increased again, the market still lacks strong factors to create a clear price increase.
