The granting of the World Athletics Label Road Race has opened up opportunities for Ha Long to become a destination for the international running community, where all competition results are globally recognized and can be used to qualify for major tournaments such as the Olympics or World Championships.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tri, General Director of DHA Vietnam Company - the owner and organizer of the race, shared: "World Athletics Label Road Race - World Label is a prestigious recognition, not only for the race but also for the Vietnamese running community. This is the result of the companionship of tens of thousands of athletes, the support of the government, local departments and sponsors. In the past 10 years, we have always been steadfast in our goal of raising the international level of the race, and today, the fact that the Ha Long Heritage International Marathon has been officially granted the World Label is the clearest affirmation that the set goal has been achieved. We believe that the Race will continue to be a bridge to spread cultural and heritage values, while actively contributing to the economic and tourism development of Quang Ninh".
This event will bring values beyond the scope of a sports activity. With tens of thousands of domestic and international athletes and tourists converging on Ha Long every year, the Ha Long Heritage International Marathon has become a powerful factor promoting sports tourism, contributing directly to service revenue, accommodation, cuisine and spreading the image of Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh, Ha Long in particular to the world.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said: The Ha Long Heritage International Marathon being awarded the World Label is not only the pride of Quang Ninh but also a milestone affirming the vision of comprehensive development - where sports, culture, tourism and heritage converge, spreading the image of a dynamic, integrated and rich-in-identity Quang Ninh; contributing to realizing the strategy of Quang Ninh province on developing sports economy with the culture and tourism industry as one of the three development pillars in the period 2025-2030.
This event has created a strong boost for Quang Ninh's tourism economy, and affirmed Ha Long as a destination and a leading regional and international tourism and sports center; accordingly, Quang Ninh province has determined the goal of becoming a center of heritage economy, cultural industry, and sports economy of the country and the world with activities to concretize Resolution 68 of the Politburo on private economy.
The 2025 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon will take place from November 21-23. This is not just a simple sporting event, but also an opportunity for every athlete and runner to proudly stride on a heritage running route and enjoy the beautiful nature of Ha Long Bay - where every step is not only to conquer passion, but also to contribute to affirming the position of a Vietnamese marathon that has reached the world.
The Organizing Committee said that, up to now, preparations for the Tournament are ready and it is expected that nearly 3,000 domestic and international athletes will participate, an increase of 120% compared to the 2024 season.
