On October 14, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City held a press conference to inform about the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship which will take place in the Port City.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, Head of the Organizing Committee, informed about the tournament.
Attending the press conference were Ms. Inas Hussein, Development Director of the World Rowing Federation; Mr. Liu Dehai, General Secretary of the Asian Rowing Federation; Mr. Edy Suyono, Technical Supervisor, Chairman of the Event Committee of the Asian Rowing Federation; Mr. Takao Senda, Chief Referee of the Asian Rowing Federation; Mr. Nguyen Hai Duong, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Rowing Federation.
The 2025 Asian Rowing Championship will take place from October 13 to 19 in Hai Phong City; the opening ceremony and main competitions will be held from October 16 to 19 at the Hai Phong Rowing Training Center.
The tournament is expected to gather about 678 members, including international officials, leaders, heads of delegations, coaches and athletes from 18 Asian countries and territories including India, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and host country Vietnam.
In particular, the tournament was attended by the President of the International Rowing Federation (FISA), the Director of Development of the World Rowing Federation, along with the President, Vice Presidents and General Secretary of the Asian Rowing Federation (ARF). In addition, there was also the presence of the President, General Secretary of the Asian National Rowing Federations, along with the team of international referees and supervisors directly running the tournament.
Athletes will compete in 20 events for both men and women, promising to bring exciting, dramatic, and attractive competitions with high professional quality, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the regional sports map.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, emphasized that hosting the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship in the Port City is not only a favorable opportunity for the Vietnamese Rowing Team and Hai Phong athletes to compete, improve their achievements, and prepare for the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand in December 2025, the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD 20) in Japan and the 2028 Olympic Qualifiers in Los Angeles (USA); but also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its proactive, positive and responsible role in international integration, contributing to the development of the Asian Rowing movement.
In addition to the sporting significance, the event is also an opportunity to promote the image of the country, people and Hai Phong city as dynamic, friendly, and rich in cultural identity to international friends. Within the framework of the tournament, many sideline activities will be organized such as sightseeing programs, cultural experiences and Hai Phong cuisine for athletes and international guests, thereby spreading the image of a hospitable Vietnam, rich in tourism and sports potential, ready for deep international integration.
