“Vietnam and Malaysia are two top teams. Vietnam deserves it and has more chances. My opinion is also related to the recent incidents between FIFA and Malaysia. If FIFA's rules are applied, the results of previous matches will change,” said assistant coach Salyan Khadgi.
In the 0-1 loss to Vietnam at Thong Nhat Stadium on the evening of October 14, Mr. Salyan Khadgi replaced head coach Matt Ross to lead the Nepal team, because he was suspended after receiving 2 yellow cards.
Speaking about the match, the Nepal team's assistant coach affirmed that the players showed commendable fighting spirit, only losing because of an own goal. "We played well and were resilient. It was unfortunate that there was an own goal. But overall, the team's spirit is commendable, especially in the second half, we created some scoring opportunities," he said.
Assistant coach Khadgi said the Vietnamese team showed their true class and showed why they are rated highest in the group.
“The Vietnamese team played very well. We played well, were resilient and followed the head coach’s tactics. What pleased me was that the players always wanted to move forward, playing with courage and enthusiasm,” he shared.
However, Mr. Khadgi said that if given the opportunity to play at home, Nepal would enter the match with a more attacking spirit. "Nepal plays with a clear strategy, prioritizing defense. If we play in Nepal, our goal will be to attack more clearly, not just defend," he concluded the press conference.
