BHG - Resolution No. 39/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council sets a target that by 2025, the average value of harvested crop products/ha of cultivated land will reach 60 million VND/year. To achieve this target, many solutions of the government and the agricultural sector at all levels have been implemented drastically and effectively, striving to achieve a harvest value of 62 million VND/ha/year by the end of 2023, exceeding the target of the Resolution 2 years ago.

With the conditions and characteristics of a mountainous province, the agricultural sector in general and the crop cultivation sector in particular have affirmed their role as a pillar for the economy , ensuring food security in the province. This is clearly demonstrated in more than 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the total food output of the province has maintained at nearly 420,000 tons, the average crop production value in 2021 and 2022 reached 53.06 and 59.5 million VND/ha, up 6.1 and 8.1% respectively over the previous year. Thereby contributing significantly to the average growth rate of the province's gross domestic product (GRDP) in the past 2 years, reaching 4.5% and 7.8%.

The total cultivated land area of the province is over 140 thousand hectares. The area and output of food crops in recent years have not had a major breakthrough; grain crops and vegetables and colors of all kinds have developed stably. However, many industrial crops and fruit trees tend to decrease in area and productivity due to the end of the development stage and the impact of pests and diseases such as orange trees, which have currently decreased by over 1,400 hectares compared to 2021. Therefore, in order to increase the value of cultivation, the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture have determined the guiding viewpoint to focus on promoting and forming production areas in the direction of large-scale commodities associated with preservation and processing according to sustainable value chains on the basis of promoting product and regional advantages; paying attention to crop areas certified to VietGAP and organic standards... Increasing investment in intensive farming, applying new varieties and new production processes to bring high productivity and quality. Strictly control the standards and quality of input products and the harvesting and processing processes. Find stable consumption markets for agricultural products... These are important factors that help increase the value per unit of cultivated area.

Right from the beginning of the year, the province issued Plan No. 14, identifying targets for a number of key crops such as: Food output reaching over 418,000 tons, both ensuring food security and focusing on developing high-quality rice products, improving the rice chain in districts such as Bac Quang, Quang Binh, Vi Xuyen, Hoang Su Phi, Xin Man, Bac Me, Yen Minh, Dong Van. Ensuring the output of all kinds of vegetables and beans of over 126 thousand tons, focusing on developing high-quality vegetables and fruits, synchronously applying science and technology in appropriate places, building a production - processing chain. Striving for the output of soybeans and peanuts to reach over 43 thousand tons, temperate fruit trees to reach over 6,500 tons associated with consumption and eco-tourism linkages. Overcoming the weaknesses of citrus fruit trees in the province, improving product quality, striving for an output of 56 thousand tons. Maintain fresh tea bud output at over 85 thousand tons, focus on processing high-quality tea products, and form raw material areas for export. Improve the quality of medicinal products...

The important solution to carry out the above tasks is for the entire political system to get involved, assign and delegate tasks to each individual and unit with specific goals and solutions associated with strengthening propaganda, dissemination, technical guidance, technology application, forming linkages and promoting market search, promotion and product introduction. Do a good job of planning the development of large-scale production areas; review and adjust land fund creation to attract businesses to invest in key crops, link production according to the "4-house" cooperation mechanism; strengthen the renovation of mixed gardens, convert land areas without proactive irrigation to change the crop structure reasonably, not leaving land abandoned. Arrange and restructure crops, seasons and varieties to minimize damage caused by natural disasters, epidemics and suitable to the conditions of each region, adapt to climate change. Testing and trial production of new varieties associated with proper care and protection of crops according to the "5 rights" principle (right type of fertilizer, right time, right subject, right season, right fertilization method). Promoting intensive farming right from the beginning of the season, implementing the correct technical production process according to GAP standards. Strengthening the application of techniques, technology and mechanization in planting, care, harvesting and processing. Making the most of and effectively promoting investment resources from programs and policies of the Central Government and the province on agricultural, rural and farmer development...

As of March 6, the total spring crop area reached nearly 40,000 hectares. Of which, rice was nearly 8,800 hectares, reaching 94.6% of the plan; corn was over 17,400 hectares, reaching 94.1% of the plan; soybeans were over 3,160 hectares, reaching 65.3% of the plan; peanuts were over 4,560 hectares, reaching 78.9% of the plan... In the first 3 months of the year, the weather was very favorable for agricultural production, this is a positive signal for implementing and completing the goals set in the field of cultivation in 2023.
