This rare case is Ms. NTH (66 years old, Hanoi ), who was discovered to have an ovarian tumor many years ago but did not intervene due to many complicated underlying diseases.
A few years later, the tumor was abnormally large, like an 8-month pregnant woman, causing abdominal pain and slow contact, and she was taken to the 108 Central Military Hospital in a state of suspected abdominal infection.
Tests and imaging showed that she had a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst suspected to be due to torsion. After consultation, she was scheduled for emergency surgery.

During surgery, doctors completely removed the necrotic left appendage, helping to prevent the risk of infection spreading and threatening life.
After 5 days of treatment and intensive care, the patient was stable and discharged from the hospital.
According to doctors, large ovarian tumors also have the risk of tumor rupture, which can cause bleeding, abdominal effusion, and peritonitis.
Ovarian tumors can occur at any age, from children to the elderly. Especially for postmenopausal women who discover ovarian tumors, they should be very careful because the risk of malignant ovarian tumors is high.
Colonel, MD, PhD Tran Thanh Huong - Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 108 Central Military Hospital recommends that women should have regular gynecological examinations every 6 months to detect early gynecological diseases, especially ovarian tumors, a disease that can progress silently but has very serious consequences if left late.
Early diagnosis and treatment will help minimize complications and preserve reproductive health and life.
