Hundreds of questions showing careful preparation in learning about careers of students in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province surprised the advisory board.

On March 16, the 24th "Bringing School to Candidates" program - 2025 organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper took place in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province with the participation of more than 1,600 students from 9 high schools in the area.

Three important keywords

From the beginning of the program, the applause and cheers of students resounded continuously when representatives of major universities appeared.

The atmosphere became more exciting when Dr. Tran Dinh Ly, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, asked Tu Quyen, a student of Bao Loc High School, about the order of choosing a major and choosing a school. Quyen confidently answered: "You should choose a career first, then choose a school."

Appreciating this answer, Dr. Tran Dinh Ly advised students to put the three keywords in the correct order: profession, industry, school. The first priority is to choose the profession you want to work in and see if it is suitable for you. Next is which major to study to do that job, and finally which schools offer that major.

Candidates from Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province asked questions to the advisory board

"University is not the only path to success. You must determine your learning ability and your family's financial situation to choose a school and level of study" - Dr. Tran Dinh Ly advised.

Information about the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam is also of interest to students. Dr. Le Trung Dao, Vice Principal of the University of Finance and Marketing, said that this year is the first year that candidates will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, so they will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects: math, literature and 2 elective subjects.

Regarding university admissions, although the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has not officially issued regulations on university and college admissions, this year's admissions are expected to have some new points. Accordingly, schools will not consider early admissions (except for direct admissions according to the regulations of the MOET) but will consider admissions at the same time; when considering transcripts, they must also consider the 12th grade study results. Admission methods are converted to a single scale; there is no limit on admission combinations; the priority points of each candidate (after adding regional priority points and priority points for subjects) do not exceed 10% of the maximum score, and the total score of the candidate does not exceed the maximum score... Dr. Le Trung Dao noted that students need to continue to focus on studying to get the best results.

Dalat University has been asked by many students about the nuclear engineering major, scholarship policy and tuition fees for the pedagogical majors... Dr. Do Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work - Dalat University, said that this school is one of four universities in the country that train in nuclear engineering. Graduates can work at institutes of atomic energy, nuclear applications, radiation; work in medical facilities, especially in the field of cancer treatment... Regarding the pedagogical majors, students are exempted from tuition fees of more than 3.6 million VND/month; and are provided with a living allowance of 30,000 VND/month according to state policy.

Learn about many professions

At the program, many students were interested in the admission methods of schools, engineering and technology majors and job opportunities.

Answering students' questions about the automobile engineering technology industry, Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Nguyen Luan Vu, Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, said that this industry belongs to the engineering technology group. This is a group of industries that the state is focusing on investing in, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education is one of the five national key schools in science and technology.

Students majoring in automotive engineering technology learn about chassis, engines, electrical systems, etc. Students not only learn on gasoline and diesel vehicles, but also on electric vehicles. Not only in the automotive field, students majoring in automotive engineering technology can also work on oil rigs, airports (ground service areas), etc. Students majoring in this field work in their field after graduation, with an almost absolute rate of having a job before graduation.

Psychology and English are also majors that many students are interested in because of the knowledge they learn as well as job opportunities. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Communication Department - Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the demand for studying psychology is increasing.

Psychology has over 20 different branches, divided into basic or applied fields. Of which, the 10 main fields today are: Developmental psychology, social psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, applied psychology, school psychology, neuropsychology, sports psychology, and criminal psychology. Upon graduation, students have many job opportunities.

Regarding the English language major and scholarship policies, MSc. Pham Thanh Hung, Deputy Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department - Saigon International University (SIU), informed that students in this major not only have skills and are fluent in foreign languages, but also have knowledge about British and American culture, society, economics, and politics. Students can work in many positions in commerce, pedagogy, translation, and many other fields.

The future of "hot" industries?

With technology present in every field, many students also ask a series of questions about the impact of technology on professions.

Answering students' questions about the future of the finance and banking industry, Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Director of the Center for Distance Education and Technology Transfer - Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, said that finance and banking is an industry that always exists in human life, supported by technology, so it will develop further and not disappear.

Regarding the e-commerce industry, Mr. Nhat believes that the current trend of online shopping shows that this industry is very important and is predicted to be a "hot" industry in the future. The school is also strongly applying technology in the e-commerce industry.

Also related to the e-commerce industry, students expressed concerns about employment limits because the training program is quite specialized. To ease this concern, Dr. Le Trung Dao said that schools tend to train in multiple fields rather than single fields. This shows that the current training program has more flexibility between fields and adjacent fields.

For example, studying banking but still receiving additional training in technology knowledge. This will help students expand their job opportunities after graduation. On the other hand, students will be able to cultivate relevant knowledge and skills, easily catching the "green eye" of businesses.

Answering the concerns of many students about wanting to study law but not knowing whether the law is "really objective or not", whether it is affected or impacted by the technology era or not..., Master Vu Dinh Le, Head of the Admissions Consulting Department - Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, affirmed that the law is always objective. The important thing is whether the person enforcing the law is objective or not. When studying law, students are the ones who will perceive and evaluate these issues most clearly.

According to Mr. Le, currently, industry trends are being affected by artificial intelligence. "Artificial intelligence is created to serve humans, especially in the legal industry, for example, the legal advice hotline. However, humans are always the ones who actively control and check in the end" - Master Le commented.

Get a head start

Speaking at the program, Mr. Tran Duc Loi, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province, assessed "Bringing schools to candidates" of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper as an effective and reputable career counseling and enrollment program.

Mr. Loi said that this is the first time the program has come to Bao Loc City. This is also very special because this year, the first students of the 2018 General Education Program will participate in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam with many innovations. After that, they will participate in the University and College entrance exam with many changes. Students are standing at an important threshold of the future, so they will have many concerns and worries about the exam and admission.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province expressed his confidence in the advisory board from universities to help advise, answer questions and orient students in their careers. Thereby, helping them choose a career that suits their abilities and aspirations, creating a favorable start for the long career path ahead.
