Reducing pressure on students, Ninh Binh adjusts the number of subjects and test time for public 10th grade entrance exams

Ninh Binh has just issued a plan for 10th grade high school enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. The province's public 10th grade entrance exam has some adjustments to suit the new generaleducation program and reduce pressure on students.

The exam is expected to take place in June 2024. Candidates registering for the exam and applying to general high schools will take three subjects including Math, Literature and a third exam.

The third test is one of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, English. The time for the Math and Literature tests is 120 minutes, the third test is 60 minutes.

Compared to 2023 - 2024, the number and time of the third exam will be reduced. Previously, the third exam was a combined exam, including English and 2 subjects, including 1 subject in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 1 subject in History, Geography, Civic Education. The time for the combined exam is 90 minutes.

In 2024-2025, the third exam will be announced by the Director of the Department of Education and Training on March 1, 2024, 45 days earlier than the previous school year.

The structure of the specialized subject exam this year is implemented according to the structure prescribed by the Department of Education and Training. This is the first time the Department has prescribed the structure of the entrance exam for specialized subjects to improve the quality and approach the knowledge of specialized subjects in preparation for the annual national excellent student exam.

Test knowledge ensures differentiation, increases open questions, application questions, and questions related to practice.

For the IT specialized class, the Ninh Binh Department of Education and Training is gradually aiming to enroll all IT specialized classes using the IT specialized exam. Therefore, in the 2024 - 2025 school year, the province will increase 7 quotas for candidates registering for the IT specialized exam compared to the 2023 - 2024 school year. Specifically, the IT specialized class will enroll a maximum of 25 candidates registering for the IT specialized exam, the remaining quota will enroll candidates registering for the specialized exam in specialized Math.
