On October 13 (local time), within the framework of her working trip to the UK, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang had a working session with British Deputy Foreign Secretary Seema Maholtra at the headquarters of the British Foreign Office .
Welcoming Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the delegation to work in London, the British Deputy Foreign Minister highly appreciated the progress in the relationship between the two countries in recent times, including the role of the two Foreign Ministries.
Deputy Minister Seema Maholtra affirmed that the UK considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia- Pacific region; expressed the desire to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of politics - diplomacy, security, trade, finance, education, energy transition and sustainable development.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang thanked the UK Foreign Office and the British Embassy in Hanoi for their close coordination in both bilateral cooperation and multilateral forums, within ASEAN and the United Nations; affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to work with the UK to promote the strategic partnership in depth, effectively, in accordance with the interests of the two countries.
The two sides agreed to continue to coordinate closely, maintain mechanisms between the two Foreign Ministries such as strategic dialogue at the Deputy Minister level and between Departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promote the coordinating role to enhance extensive and effective cooperation, including well organizing high-level visits and contacts, promoting effective implementation of documents and agreements signed between the two sides, deepening traditional areas of cooperation and expanding to other potential areas.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of economic, trade and investment cooperation on the basis of taking advantage of the UKVFTA and CPTPP bilateral trade agreements, promoting cooperation in science and technology, innovation as well as culture, education, and people-to-people exchange.
