
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung attended the Forum "Promoting innovation and developing strategic technology industries in Vietnam: Experience from the UK" in London with the participation of about 100 Vietnamese experts, scientists , businessmen and engineers working at leading universities, research institutes and technology corporations in the UK and Northern Ireland.
At the Forum, delegates shared many experiences, models and practical lessons in developing advanced technology industries in the UK, focusing on topics such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, quantum technology, data science, green finance and next-generation telecommunications, and introduced typical projects demonstrating the potential for technological cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the contributions of the delegates and suggested that the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in the UK and Ireland (VIS) continue to closely connect with the Global Network of Vietnamese Innovation and Experts, especially in cooperation initiatives to develop strategic technology industries in which the UK has strengths such as AI, semiconductors, quantum, renewable energy, advanced biomedical technology, robotics, automation and green finance.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung called on Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in the UK to promote academic exchanges, policy advice, and support Vietnam in building a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
At the event, the National Innovation Center (NIC) under the Ministry of Finance and VIS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the implementation of initiatives on innovation, creative startups and technology investment connections between Vietnam and the UK. The two sides will promote connections between businesses, research institutes and universities, jointly implement projects in 11 national strategic technology groups, contributing to building an international standard innovation ecosystem in Vietnam.
At the meeting with VIS members, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the activities of the Association, and suggested that the Association establish an Innovation Network in the UK and Ireland, thereby combining with domestic and international partners, forming research groups to produce specific products, making practical contributions to the country's science and technology development process.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government is ready to create the most favorable environment for experts and intellectuals to maximize their capacity and contribute to the country's development in any position.
During his working trip, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visited the Sci-Tech Daresbury Science Park and Quantum Science technology company in Manchester city.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the development model of the Daresbury Sci-Tech Park, suggesting that the two sides strengthen cooperation in developing research infrastructure, technological innovation and training high-quality human resources, focusing on the fields of AI, supercomputers, big data, as well as in-depth cooperation in building data platforms and applied AI, transferring high-performance computing (HPC) technology and training digital experts, serving the digital transformation process and developing high-tech industry in Vietnam.

At Quantum Science (QS), the UK's leading deep technology company, a pioneer in the development and production of quantum dot materials, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hopes that QS will study the possibility of cooperation with Vietnam to apply INFIQ materials to specific products and move towards cooperation in research and development of new generations of semiconductor materials. He suggested that QS coordinate with leading technical universities in Vietnam to build training and scholarship programs, especially creating conditions for outstanding Vietnamese researchers, engineers and students to intern, study or work at QS's leading R&D departments in the UK.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung also had working sessions with Oxford Instruments Group, which specializes in researching, designing and manufacturing advanced technological equipment and solutions for scientific research, semiconductors, new materials, energy and biomedicine in Oxford; multinational pharmaceutical and biological corporation AstraZeneca in Cambridge; and three corporations in London: Revolut, which specializes in financial technology; iProov, which operates in the field of biometric identity authentication, providing face verification and online user identification solutions; and Cundall, which specializes in sustainable development and green buildings.
At the meetings, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that Vietnam is currently entering a new development phase with the aspiration for rapid, sustainable and comprehensive growth, in which the fields of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, especially semiconductors, AI, big data, financial technology, and green technology are considered strategic technologies, playing a decisive role in creating new growth drivers for the Vietnamese economy. He encouraged businesses to share their experiences and advise Vietnam in their fields of operation, promote research, technology transfer and develop high-quality human resources in advanced technology fields.
