Currently, the work to repair 15 landslides (not yet completed) is still being urgently deployed day and night with more than 100 workers and 20 mechanical machines operating. If the weather is favorable, the entire Ho Chi Minh Highway West branch in Hue city will be open to traffic on November 6.
The section from Km109+150 to Km109+200 of the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road through Hue City also has cracks along the cement concrete road surface, about 50m long and 20cm wide at most. Road Management Area II (Vietnam Road Administration) has directed units to organize barriers and ensure traffic for passing vehicles.
According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of A Luoi 1 Commune, Le Hoang Vu Hai Quang, at Km37+110, the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, the section from the old Hong Van Commune to the old Hong Thuy Commune, there was a landslide on the evening of November 4. On the morning of November 5, the A Luoi 1 Commune authorities coordinated with road management forces and military and police agencies to clear and open one lane to traffic. Up to now, the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road through A Luoi 1 Commune has been completely opened to traffic.
Heavy rains that have lasted for many days have caused a lot of damage to the West branch of Ho Chi Minh road, such as soil and rocks filling the sewers and overflowing the road surface; potholes and damage to the road surface; damaged sidewalks, sewers, and guardrails... This route has had 140 locations with positive slope landslides with about 355,000 m3 of soil and rock and 12 locations with negative slope landslides; of which, Km366+150 is the location with the most landslides and traffic jams, occurring from October 28 until now.
