Australia provides 3 million AUD to support Vietnam after two storms

Australia will provide up to 3 million AUD in assistance to Vietnam following typhoons Bualoi and Matmo.

These consecutive storms have caused widespread destruction and flooding in northern and central Vietnam.

Australia stressed that it shares the pain with the Vietnamese people during this difficult time.

Australia's support will include emergency relief supplies such as: kitchen sets, hygiene kits and shelter kits.

Australia will mobilize Australian NGOs through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership program to deliver relief operations. The funding will also provide support through United Nations agencies.

As a trusted partner, Australia will work closely with the Government of Vietnam in implementing this assistance.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stressed: “We know the recovery process will take time and as a long-standing friend and partner, Australia stands with Vietnam in these difficult times.”

Australia will continue to cooperate with Vietnam in emergency relief efforts and building disaster resilience.

“Our thoughts are with the families and communities affected by the recent devastating storms,” said Australian Minister for International Development Dr Anne Aly. “Australia and Vietnam are working together to ensure families and vulnerable people, including women, children and people with disabilities, receive support.
