The announcement stated: In recent days, on social networks Tiktok, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, many images and clips have appeared of a man in the form of a monk walking along the route from Khanh Hoa to Ha Giang and vice versa. This person is called "Monk Thich Minh Tue" by social networks. During the walking route through the localities, many people and Buddhists gathered in large numbers, offering items, food and money, creating many images and clips that caused mixed public opinion, affecting the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
In official dispatch No. 151, the Standing Committee of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha affirmed: Mr. Thich Minh Tue is not a Buddhist monk.
Through investigation and verification, the Standing Committee of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha confirmed that this man is not a Buddhist monk, does not practice Buddhism, and is not a staff member of any pagoda or monastery of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. This was also confirmed by the man himself in clips on social networks.
Mr. Thich Minh Tue himself also affirmed that he is not a Buddhist monk, not a staff member of any pagoda or monastery of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
According to the above document, this man was born in 1981, from Ky Anh district (Ha Tinh) but his family lives in Eakar district ( Dak Lak ). Previously, this person had walked several times from Khanh Hoa to the northern provinces and vice versa. However, this time, some social media users used his walking image to create curiosity, attracting many people to follow, creating a view-baiting effect and many comments distorting the religious life of monks, nuns, and Buddhists of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
On the streets where Mr. Thich Minh Tue passed, there were many people worshiping, filming, taking pictures, and spreading images on social networking platforms.
The Standing Committee of the Executive Council requests that the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities notify Buddhists and the public so that they do not misunderstand this person as a monk, and contact local authorities to take measures to prevent the use of social networks to create a wave of public opinion insulting the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
Previously, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs also affirmed that Mr. Thich Minh Tue is not a Buddhist monk of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Previously, Mr. Thich Minh Tue had walked three times in the form of practicing the "dhutanga" method from the South to the North and vice versa, but did not attract much attention. This fourth time, Mr. Minh Tue's journey has attracted the attention of many people, at times up to hundreds of people following, affecting security, order and traffic in the areas.
The group included Buddhist followers, curious people, and a group of tiktokers and youtubers who filmed and livestreamed clips and posted them on social networking sites, creating the "Thich Minh Tue phenomenon", attracting public attention and many comments in different directions.
The Government Committee for Religious Affairs requests the Religious Affairs Committee/Division to advise the Department of Home Affairs to report to the Provincial/City People's Committee to direct relevant departments and branches to pay attention to not allowing large crowds to gather when Mr. Minh Tue arrives in the area, causing obstruction and affecting traffic safety, complicating security and order, especially not allowing bad forces to take advantage, incite, entice, causing religious disunity and violating the law. At the same time, discuss with the local Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to guide monks, nuns, and Buddhists to practice according to the Buddha's true Dharma, respecting the freedom of belief, religion and the way of practice of everyone, but needing to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law.
Relevant units need to inform and propagate so that the masses, monks, nuns, Buddhists and people understand the policy of respecting freedom of belief and religion, and the way of practicing Buddhism; not to hinder or affect the practice of the Dharma; to mobilize dignitaries, followers and the masses not to gather in large numbers in public places, causing obstruction and traffic jams and security and order in the area; to proactively provide information and orient public opinion, not to give ill-intentioned subjects the opportunity to take advantage of propaganda and incitement to cause social instability.
These days, Mr. Thich Minh Tue is walking through Ha Tinh and continues to cause a stir with dozens, hundreds of people following him to clear the way, worship, film, and take pictures.
