In the days before Tet, the streets selling fashion , cosmetics, and food in Hanoi are crowded with shoppers until late at night. Many streets are jammed with people shopping for Tet such as Chua Boc, Dang Van Ngu, Bach Mai, Cau Giay, Pham Ngoc Thach, Pho Hue...
Entering a men's clothing store on Minh Khai Street, Nguyen Gia Long (born in 2001) and a group of friends excitedly chose Tet clothes. They took advantage of their last day in Hanoi to shop, before returning home for a 9-day holiday.
On Chua Boc Street, Nhu Hien (born in 2005) carried about 7 bags filled with clothes, cosmetics, accessories... She weaved through the traffic, saying she had bought quite a few things after receiving her company's Tet bonus that afternoon.
"It's predicted to be very cold this Tet, so I bought a lot of winter clothes so I put them in many bags," she said.
Explaining her choice to shop in person instead of online, Hien said that shopping in stores helps her experience the actual quality of the products. During the days leading up to Tet, goods shipped online may be delayed or unsatisfactory, making it difficult to exchange or return.
A representative of a clothing store on Dang Van Ngu Street said that over the past week, sales have increased about 5 times compared to normal. The reason is explained that during this time, many people have just received their salaries and Tet bonuses.
