Assessing the performance of the "smokeless industry", the Steering Committee for Tourism Development in Binh Thuan said that the locality has recently seen a huge growth in the number of visitors. Especially after the province hosted the National Tourism Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Convergence and the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway opened to traffic, helping to shorten the travel time of tourists to the locality. Evidence shows that in the first 6 months of this year, the whole province is estimated to welcome more than 4,460,000 visitors, an increase of 86.36% over the same period last year and reaching 66.4% of the 2023 plan (of which international visitors were about 133,900, an increase of 5.42 times over the same period). During the same period, revenue from tourism activities in Binh Thuan is estimated at nearly 11,350 billion VND, an increase of 2.52 times over the same period last year and reaching 71.4% of this year's plan.

With many favorable factors, local tourism is entering the second half of the year with 3 extremely exciting summer months, followed by the peak season for international visitors, so the number of visitors is expected to continue to increase. Recently, at the meeting of the Steering Committee for Tourism Development in Binh Thuan, the leader of the provincial Statistics Department stated that the two basic targets of the number of visitors and revenue from tourism activities this year are not difficult to achieve and complete. Specifically, the plan sets out to welcome 6,720,000 visitors for the whole year, including: 6,500,000 domestic visitors, up 15.4% over last year and about 220,000 international visitors, up 2.5 times, with total revenue from tourists being 15,900 billion VND, up more than 16% over 2022... Optimistic about the current "favorable weather and favorable terrain", Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Chairman of Binh Thuan Tourism Association believes that there will be an explosion in the number of visitors this year, and expects the locality to welcome 8,000,000 visitors, of which about 400,000 - 500,000 are international visitors.

Because in the near future, when the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway is completed and put into operation, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), it will create fierce competition to attract tourists among the South Central Coast provinces. Therefore, to maintain its attractiveness, Binh Thuan tourism needs to focus on effectively promoting the potentials and advantages that the locality possesses. Or like the National Tourism Year 2023, it also focuses on "renewing" the destination's image through increasing promotional activities and organizing outstanding events with the province's characteristics.

Along with that, promote the development of diverse types and tourism products as well as improve the quality and reasonable prices of services to serve well the target groups of tourists, especially those with high spending levels. At the same time, actively coordinate to remove difficulties and obstacles and urge to speed up the implementation of investment projects in the province (because up to now, more than half of the 384 registered tourism projects have not been put into operation). Thereby, significantly increasing the number of high-class accommodation establishments to promptly and fully meet the needs of tourists on weekends and holidays. In fact, Binh Thuan tourism also needs to overcome the shortcomings in the past such as the situation of street vendors, soliciting tourists still exists or the "problem" of waste that has not been thoroughly treated...

To maintain a stable growth in the number of visitors and revenue from tourism activities, Binh Thuan will continue to strive to maintain its brand and image as a destination of “Safe - Friendly - Attractive - Quality”.
