Maintaining the information "bloodline" between the mainland and remote islands

(GLO)- Stationed in Thong Nhat ward, the 132nd Information Brigade (under the Information and Communications Corps) always maintains the information "bloodline" to serve the direction and command of the military forces stationed in the Central Highlands and Truong Sa archipelago, contributing to protecting the peace of the Fatherland.

Cross the forest, stick to it, information is always clear

We visited the 132nd Information Brigade on a day in mid-July, when the western region of Gia Lai province was entering the rainy season. Talking to us, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Brigade Commander of the 132nd Information Brigade, shared: “On May 1, 1953, in Thai Nguyen province, the first bare wire company of our Army, codenamed Company 105, was established (the predecessor of today's 132nd Information Brigade), with the task of building and exploiting the military long-distance bare wire telephone system. Immediately after its establishment, the unit became the core force in building the bare wire information network at the Viet Bac base, ensuring wired information from the Viet Bac war zone to the Northwest so that the Party Central Committee, Uncle Ho and the General Command could promptly direct and command the battlefields”.

With the slogans “Force the forest to open the way, force the mountain to bow down”, “Win the enemy, win nature”, “Determined to win line”, “Unification line”..., the officers and soldiers of the unit did not hesitate to sacrifice their blood and bones, holding guns in their hands, carrying equipment on their shoulders, crossing the forests, under the rain of bombs and bullets. By 1956, the unit had successfully built the “Unification” axis from Xuan Mai ( Hanoi ) to the provinces of Military Region 4 - a strategic line, ensuring solid information from the General Command to the military regions, branches and defense units in the border and island areas throughout the North.

During the resistance war against the US, the unit continued to ensure smooth communication for the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to the entire army, contributing to the victory of the two destructive wars in the North by the US imperialists. At the same time, the unit brought the entire force of the Mobile Regiment deep into the battlefield, staying long-term on the battlefield; built a line across Truong Son, connecting communication from Hanoi to the battlefield in the South.

From 2008 to present, the Brigade has become a mixed information security unit, including: Wired information, radio, VSAT, television, data transmission, military postal information and Mobile Information Station No. 2. The unit is responsible for ensuring communications to serve the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense in commanding and directing units in 11 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands - Central region, Truong Sa archipelago, Region 3 and

Naval Region 4, Coast Guard Region 2, Air Defense - Air Force divisions and Border Guard stations on the Central Highlands border.

Promoting youth, maintaining information flow

To meet the requirements of the new situation, ensuring timely, smooth and solid information, the Party Committee and the command of the 132nd Information Brigade have implemented many breakthrough policies and solutions. The unit has taken advantage of the development trend of science and technology, while maximizing its internal strength. Movements and models such as: "Information groups and stations following Uncle Ho's words", "Model radio groups", "Solidarity between the army and people, safe cable lines", "Youth shifts", "Youth days on the line", "Self-managed youth computer room", "Model youth cable lines"... have been widely deployed, promoting the pioneering and exemplary spirit of cadres and party members and the dynamism of young people in carrying out political tasks.

From practical emulation movements, the Brigade has effectively implemented many important projects such as: Consolidating fiber optic cable trunks, building cable lines to Cu Lao Cham Island (former Quang Nam province), Ly Son (Quang Ngai); planning, relocating and upgrading node switchboards; deploying radio stations; installing and maintaining VSAT systems, switching and television systems for islands in Truong Sa archipelago...

At the same time, complete the planning of the radio transmission and reception system according to the policy of "Decentralized organization and centralized operation", ensuring stable and smooth operation from the Command Center of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army to the units in the area. The Brigade also receives, manages, exploits and operates the Central Regional Television Center with 97 bridges, synchronized with the online television network of the Ministry of National Defense.

In particular, with the task of ensuring communications and live broadcasting from Truong Sa to the mainland, the Brigade has established mobile communications teams ready for combat, support, and timely emergency information, maintaining the signal flow from Truong Son to Truong Sa. Major Hoang Van Dai, an employee of the Technical Support Center of the 132nd Information Brigade, shared: “I am very honored to have been to Truong Sa archipelago 7 times to perform the task of ensuring communications.

What moved me the most was the times we celebrated Tet with the officers and soldiers on the remote islands. Despite the difficult conditions, when the television signals from Truong Sa to the mainland helped the leaders of the Party, State and people of the whole country send Tet greetings to the officers and soldiers here, we felt warm and extremely proud.
