After 8 years in business, this is the 6th time Ty Thy has changed its address. |
On May 11th, YouTuber Ty Thy announced that her papaya salad stall on Ben Phu Lam Street (Binh Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was operating for the last day before relocating to Huynh Van Nghe Street (Tran Bien Ward) – a bustling central area of Dong Nai province . This marks the first time the "papaya salad sensation" has run a business in this province.
Previously, on August 9, 2025, Ty Thy reopened her shop at her home after nearly five months of moving it to Minh Phung Street (Binh Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). However, she admitted that the number of customers had decreased significantly compared to the old location due to the small space and hidden location.
Sharing the reason for closing this time, Ty Thy said that she could no longer bear the burden of expenses as before. Customers still came, but there wasn't much profit. Because she could only serve about 10 tables at a time, revenue was limited. Selling from morning to night was only enough to cover staff salaries, electricity, water, and rising raw material costs.
From February, Ty Thy shifted its business model to Thai-style noodle soup to optimize operating costs and food quality, then resumed selling salad as an accompaniment upon customer request.
"I wanted to find a spacious location where customers could sit comfortably, and where I could sell a lot to increase revenue and have some extra money, which would motivate me. Because many diners in Dong Nai want to eat here but find it difficult to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, I chose this location. The new location is also close to Binh Duong (formerly), Trang Bom and Ho Nai (Dong Nai)," she told Tri Thuc - Znews.

The interior of the papaya salad restaurant soon to open in Dong Nai features a distinctive yellow color scheme. |
According to some diners, Ty Thy has significantly improved the food quality and no longer plays loud music. However, the seating area is cramped, only suitable for quick meals and leaving immediately.
Customer Thy Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City) commented: "The dishes are seasoned better than before. The mixed Thai noodles suit my taste better than in Thailand; it's not too sour and doesn't have a strong sweet aftertaste. The papaya salad is more balanced, with fresh ingredients, but it's still watery, causing the flavor to fade quickly. The space is bright, but the tables are placed too close together, making it feel uncomfortable."
Having eaten there before closing time, Cao Minh Duc (Ho Chi Minh City) also noted that some dishes had returned to their original quality, notably the beef meatballs and snail patties wrapped in betel leaves. However, the space looked somewhat chaotic due to the limited area, with the preparation counters spread both inside and outside.

Papaya salad with crab is the dish that made Ty Thy famous. According to her, she usually marinates the crabs for 5 days before selling them to reduce the saltiness. |
On May 22nd, Ty Thy opened a new restaurant in Dong Nai, a spacious establishment with many staff members. In the center of the restaurant, there's a dedicated area where customers can watch and interact with the "papaya salad expert" while he prepares the salad.
The menu has been reduced to 9 dishes, including papaya salad with crab or raw shrimp, beef meatballs, snail patties, Thai noodles, pork skewers... Prices range from 20,000 to 99,000 VND per dish.
"If business is good, I'll stay long-term. Otherwise, I'll work for a while, then go home. Many people say I don't settle down, but business depends on luck; you need to invest to attract customers," she said.
Previously, Ty Thy had moved her address four times due to business difficulties. Her first address, after returning from Cambodia in 2018, was on Ben Phu Lam Street (Binh Tay Ward).
Then, they moved to An Duong Vuong Street (Binh Tay Ward), Thu Dau Mot Ward (formerly Binh Duong), and Minh Phung Street (Binh Tay Ward). Finally, Ty Thy returned to the first address to reduce rental costs, but quickly found a new location in Dong Nai.
