In Thu Bon commune, the atmosphere these days is more vibrant than ever. People are working together to wrap up lovingly prepared banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), jars of pickled papaya, and jars of meat marinated in fish sauce to send to the North, sharing in some way the difficulties that people are facing as they struggle against the floods.
Ms. Ngo Thi Hai, a resident of La Phap village, emotionally said: "Watching on TV how Typhoon No. 10 caused massive floods in Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang, sweeping away property, I couldn't help but feel heartbroken. I only hope this small gift will bring some warmth to the people."
This meaningful activity was initiated by the volunteer group "Duy Xuyen and Friends". In response to the complex flood situation, the group connected with the Women's Association of La Thap village and the people of Thu Bon commune to jointly cook banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and prepare marinated meat to send as gifts to flood victims.
Le Kim Viet, a member of the "Duy Xuyen and Friends" group, said: "The costs were raised by the group through social media. When people learned that the group was preparing to support flood victims in the North, many responded, some contributing their time, some their strength, and some their money."
On the morning of October 12th, the group set off for the North with 500 sticky rice cakes, 500 jars of pork marinated in fish sauce, 300 jars of papaya fish sauce, over 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, 1,000 boxes of bottled water, and over 500 boxes of milk. Relief efforts are only truly meaningful when they reach the right place at the right time, so everyone is striving to send the goods as quickly as possible.”

With the message "The North is calling - Central Vietnam is ready. North, keep going!", many relief distribution points in Da Nang have been bustling over the past few days. At 26 Ton Duc Thang Street (Hoa Khanh Ward) and 61 Ha Thi Than Street (An Hai Ward), hundreds of people brought rice, instant noodles, milk, drinking water, blankets, clothes, flashlights, medicine, and other supplies to donate. All shared a common desire to support their brothers and sisters in the North.
In addition, the kitchen of the Phan Duc Charity Club (Dong Duong commune) is always bustling with activity. In just two days, the members prepared 400 jars of salted peanuts and 400 jars of meat marinated in fish sauce, ready to be sent to the flood-affected areas. This is the result of funding contributed by various charity groups and the collective efforts of compassionate individuals throughout the region.
In addition to contributing through their work, many individuals and organizations in Da Nang also coordinated the "Towards the North" program to gather relief supplies.
Recently, Khanh Gia Phat tourist bus company (No. 8 Nguyen Phong Sac Street, Cam Le Ward) along with Mr. Tran Thanh and Mr. Truong Van Khanh organized a donation collection point from 9:00 AM on October 9th at the wedding banquet hall on 2nd September Street (Hoa Cuong Ward).
Here, people can donate essential items such as warm clothes, blankets, raincoats, boots, life jackets, instant noodles, dried food, rice, milk, bottled water, flashlights, cold medicine, fever reducers, bandages, etc. However, the organizers do not accept used items to ensure the quality of the goods and to preserve the sincerity of the donors.
From sticky rice cakes and jars of marinated meat to the continuously transported relief supplies, everything is imbued with the simple yet profound spirit of the people of Da Nang. Each trip, each gift delivered, is not only material support but also a testament to the spirit of solidarity and sharing, a human kindness spreading from the beloved Central region to our dear flood-stricken compatriots in the North.
