Contribute to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities

Implementing Project 6 on "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, Yen Lap district has implemented solutions to preserve, maintain and effectively promote traditional cultural identities and values, creating a spread in the community.

In recent times, the district has focused on maintaining, preserving and conserving traditional cultural identities, cultural and historical heritages. The district has the Coming of Age Ceremony of the Dao Quan Chet people in Xuan Thuy commune, the Jumping Festival of the Dao Quan Chet people in Yen Lap district, and the social customs and beliefs of the Forest Opening Ceremony of the Muong people in Yen Lap which have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages. In addition, the district also has provincial-level historical and cultural relics such as: Phuc Co Communal House, Minh Hoa commune; Ton Son - Mo Xuan base, Xuan An commune...

Project 6 is implemented in the district to contribute to restoring, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values; supporting cultural facilities, equipment and facilities for ethnic minority areas to enhance cultural enjoyment for ethnic minorities associated with community tourism development. Research, collection, restoration, preservation, conservation, teaching and promotion of traditional cultural values are of interest. The association and cooperation in cultural preservation; propaganda and promotion of unique cultural values of ethnic groups have many innovations and creativity.

Implementing Project 6, according to the career capital source, the total capital plan for the period 2021-2024 is over 2.5 billion VND, nearly 20% has been disbursed so far. Accordingly, support for traditional art activities (costumes, props, remuneration...) has been organized for 3 art teams (zone 1, My Lung commune; Hon zone, Xuan An commune; Dang zone, Trung Son commune), the remaining capital is continuing to be deployed to support traditional art activities for 9 art teams in the communes.

Regarding investment capital, the total capital plan for the 2021-2024 period is over 30 billion VND, and so far over 25 billion VND has been disbursed. Investment has been made in 3 heritage experience tourism projects, typical tourist destinations in ethnic minority and mountainous areas associated with historical relics in My Lung, Xuan An, and Minh Hoa communes; to date, the projects have basically been completed and are in the final stage for handover and putting into use.

My Lung commune has beautiful landscapes and many waterfalls that can be exploited for tourism such as: Fan waterfall, Dung waterfall, 100-storey waterfall. The rich water source is the origin of the specialty Ga Gay My Lung sticky rice variety - an OCOP product of the province. Along with that, the traditional culture of the Muong and Dao people is still preserved. Implementing Project 6, the commune is supported to develop a typical tourist destination associated with the development of the Ga Gay sticky rice growing area of the Muong people.

Comrade Dinh Tien Duat - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "Promoting traditional cultural values associated with tourism opens up a new direction for local economic development. Historical relics, folk performing arts of ethnic minorities are preserved along with the restoration of production tools and instruments, traditional handicrafts, the development of the typical Ga Gay sticky rice product... linking the preservation and promotion of cultural and historical values with the development of community tourism will contribute to creating livelihoods for the people".

Through the implementation of the Project, people will better understand the role and significance of preserving ethnic culture; develop cultural and artistic movements, improve spiritual life through practical activities. At the same time, contribute to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the district, strengthen the great national unity bloc, and make important contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality.
