French football pundits have criticized Mason Greenwood, calling the Marseille striker a "mediocre player".

Following Marseille's heavy 0-3 defeat to Monaco last weekend, two former French football legends, Jerome Rothen and Christophe Dugarry, criticized both Greenwood and head coach De Zerbi. Speaking on RMC Sport , Rothen commented: "Everyone is responsible. We had high expectations for Greenwood and Hojbjerg, but they are just average players."

Greenwood had a disappointing performance in Ligue 1's 29th round on April 13th. At their home ground, Stade Louis II, Monaco dominated Marseille.
