Hanoi sets date to end dual high school diploma system. |
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a Decision on extending the pilot project of the dual training program of Vietnamese high school diploma and British high school diploma (A-Level Certificate) from the 2023-2024 school year to the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
Currently, the dual high school diploma training project is available at Chu Van An High School and Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
The Hanoi People's Committee also said that it assigned the Department of Education and Training to develop a project to continue implementing this project and organize its implementation to ensure compliance with regulations.
At the same time, develop tuition fees for dual degree students enrolled under the pilot project, report to the City People's Committee to submit to the City People's Council for consideration and decision in accordance with legal regulations and authority.
The Hanoi People's Committee also assigned the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to evaluate and summarize the pilot model, and advise on proposing suitable models to develop the capital's education to approach regional and international education, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
Previously, the pilot project to train a dual program of Vietnamese national high school diploma and British high school diploma (A Level certificate) was implemented at Chu Van An High School from the 2017-2018 school year.
By the 2018-2019 school year, Hanoi had 7 more schools implementing the dual baccalaureate program, including Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (in both junior high and high school) and 6 junior high schools, including: Chu Van An (Tay Ho district), Trung Vuong, Ngo Si Lien (Hoan Kiem district), Thanh Xuan (Thanh Xuan district), Cau Giay, Nghia Tan (Cau Giay district).
On June 9, 2022, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to extend the pilot project of the dual training program of Vietnamese and British high school diplomas at Chu Van An High School until the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
From the 2021-2022 school year, Hanoi will not organize new enrollment of 6th grade students in the dual-degree training program.
Currently, the dual diploma training project at the secondary level has 2 courses left. At the high school level, two high schools (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School and Chu Van An High School) will end the pilot in the 2023-2024 school year.
At the summary meeting of the pilot project of the dual training program of Vietnamese and British high school diplomas, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that students participating in the pilot project of the dual training program of Vietnamese and British high school diplomas were highly appreciated in terms of general knowledge, English proficiency, thinking and skills.
Accordingly, 100% of students who have been and are studying have excellent academic results and good conduct. However, the implementation in schools still faces some difficulties such as: lack of teachers, difficulty in selecting foreign teachers who meet legal and professional requirements, and the facilities of the schools generally do not meet the prescribed standards...
Another difficulty is that in the 2021-2022 school year, the enrollment quota for grade 10 of the two high schools Hanoi - Amsterdam and Chu Van An High Schools will not be expanded, while the desire to continue studying the program of middle school students is quite high.
