Hanoi: Firefighting and rescue drill for 200 households and residents at Dong Xuan Market

On the afternoon of July 10, at Dong Xuan market, Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company coordinated with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Hoan Kiem District Police ( Hanoi ), Dong Xuan Ward People's Committee, Dong Xuan Ward Police to organize a fire prevention and rescue drill.

The National Assembly discussed in the hall the draft Law on Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue.

The program is organized to raise the vigilance and sense of responsibility of Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company's staff, business owners and residents in strictly complying with the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting at the facility; equipping them with basic knowledge of fire prevention and fighting and rescue (PCCC&CNCH), escape skills and fire extinguishing when an incident occurs.

The number of participants in the exercise was about 200 officials, employees, business owners and residents. Also attending the program were representatives of the management boards of Dong Giao and Rong markets (Ninh Binh).

The drill attracted more than 200 staff, business owners and residents.

From 6pm, the drill program began with a hypothetical situation of a fire suddenly breaking out in the area under repair in the row of kiosks on the first floor of Dong Xuan market. The cause of the fire was a worker accidentally dropping embers into the goods gathering area. Immediately after, the fire spread quickly and emitted many toxic gases to the surrounding sales areas... It is estimated that at the time of the fire, there were about 120 people in the market area buying and selling.

Immediately after the incident, the fire prevention and fighting force quickly evacuated the area, provided instructions for escape; used fire fighting and rescue equipment on site; announced via the facility's loudspeaker, and called the Hanoi City Police to report the fire.

At exactly 6:00 p.m., the leader of Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company gave the order to start the exercise.

Upon receiving the news, the City Police quickly mobilized forces and vehicles from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team - Hoan Kiem District Police, and the Rescue Team - Area 1 to coordinate with the grassroots forces to organize fire fighting and rescue.

After 30 minutes, with the coordination of participating forces, the fire was completely controlled, there were no human casualties, and the business owner's property was all safely moved.

Ms. Le Anh Thu - Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee - evaluated the drill.

After the drill, the leaders of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the leaders of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hoan Kiem Police and the collective organized a review of experiences. In her concluding remarks, Ms. Le Anh Thu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District - highly appreciated and commended the sense of responsibility, efforts, and determination of the leaders and officers and employees of Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company, the commander and the participating coordinating forces. The drill has an important meaning in the fire prevention and rescue work of Hoan Kiem District at the present time.
