Heavy rain in Hanoi, warning of flooding risk on many roads

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the night and morning of October 7, the Hanoi area experienced moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, and locally very heavy rain. The rainfall in the past 6 hours was generally from 50 - 100 mm, with higher rainfall in some places such as Soc Son station 157.2 mm, Me Tri station 100.2 mm...

It is forecasted that on the morning of October 7, in Hanoi, there will continue to be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with general rainfall of 50 - 100 mm, and in some places very heavy rain over 150 mm; from the evening and at night, the rain will decrease rapidly.

People need to be on guard against the risk of flooding in low-lying streets in the inner city.

This rain will cause localized flooding on some streets with the greatest flooding depth commonly from 0.20 - 0.40m, some places will be deeper; flooding time is about 1 - 3 hours, some places will be flooded longer.

On the day and night of October 7, the mountainous and midland areas of the North will have heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40 - 100 mm, locally very heavy rain of over 200 mm.

The Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa regions have moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 30 - 60 mm, locally very heavy rain over 150 mm. Warning of risk of heavy rain (>150 mm/3 hours).

In addition, during the day and night of October 7, Nghe An - Ha Tinh area will have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20 - 40 mm, locally over 70 mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>150 mm/3 hours). During thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind may occur.

Warning: From October 8, heavy rain in the North and Thanh Hoa will decrease. Heavy rain can cause: Flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial zones; flash floods on rivers and small streams; landslides on steep slopes.
