It is forecasted that public high schools in the inner city will still have a high competition rate. Information on the number of candidates applying for grade 10 at each school will be announced at the Department of Education and Training and the electronic information portal of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training at: www.hanoi.edu.vn.

Combining information on the number of applicants and the quota for each school, parents and students can determine how high or low the competition rate is for admission to the school. In 2025, the city is expected to have about 127,000 students taking the secondary school graduation exam.

This year, the total enrollment target for grade 10 assigned by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to 122 public and autonomous public schools is 1,795 classes with 79,740 students. This is an increase of nearly 5,000 targets compared to last year, of which 71 schools increased their targets.

Some schools increased their quotas, such as Viet Duc High School, Da Phuc High School and Thuong Tin High School, which increased by 135 students compared to last year; Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem, Kim Lien High School, Yen Hoa High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Xuan Dinh High School, and My Dinh High School, which all increased by 90 students compared to last year. On the contrary, Phung Khac Khoan High School - Thach That decreased its quota the most with 135 students.

Specialized high schools in Hanoi also adjusted their enrollment quotas for the 2025-2026 school year. The total enrollment quota for 4 specialized schools (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Son Tay High School for the Gifted) is 2,730 students (equivalent to 78 classes). Compared to the previous school year, the total enrollment quota for grade 10 of specialized schools increased by nearly 500 students, equivalent to 14 specialized classes.

Of which, Son Tay High School for the Gifted has increased its quota the most (210 students, equivalent to 6 specialized classes). Chu Van An High School for the Gifted has increased 4 specialized classes (about 140 students); Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted each have increased 2 specialized classes (about 70 students/school).
