Hanoi has just been honored in the list of 105 best tourist cities in the world at the prestigious Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, organized by the famous British newspaper The Telegraph.

This recognition has affirmed Hanoi 's position as a leading destination, not only in Southeast Asia but also globally, attracting the affection of millions of international tourists.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam with more than a thousand years of civilization, has excellently won 31st place in the overall list and ranked 10th in the group of cities outside Europe and America.

The Telegraph describes Hanoi as “a city for souls who love light, poetic beauty and the charm of time”.

The unique blend of the ancient features of the old town with winding streets, East-West architecture, and a cultural space imbued with Vietnamese culture has created an irresistible attraction for this city.

Hanoi’s Old Quarter, with its small streets bearing historical imprints, is where visitors can clearly feel the soul of a city over a thousand years old. Ancient houses, temples, and monuments such as Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature or the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are always must-see destinations.

Besides, Hanoi is also famous for its rich cuisine, from fragrant pho, rich bun cha to unique egg coffee. It is the harmonious combination of tradition and modernity that helps Hanoi score points in the eyes of international tourists.

Not only culturally beautiful, Hanoi also offers unique experiences through its typical flower seasons. The scent of milk flowers wafting through every street in the fall or the colorful flower stalls around Hoan Kiem Lake always captivate visitors.

Areas such as Duong Lam ancient village, Bat Trang pottery village or green suburban areas also contribute to enriching the journey to explore the capital.

The Telegraph Travel Awards 2025 are based on votes from around 20,000 readers worldwide, to honor the world's most outstanding travel destinations.

The list is divided into two tables: the Top 50 coolest cities in the world and a ranking by geographic region, including Europe, the Americas and other regions.

Hanoi's inclusion in this list is a testament to the growing appeal of Vietnam's capital on the international tourism map.

In the Southeast Asian region, Hanoi has surpassed many famous cities such as Chiang Mai (position 18) and Bangkok (position 40) of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur (position 68) of Malaysia, or Phnom Penh (position 83) of Cambodia to maintain a high position in the region.

This affirms Hanoi's role as one of Asia's leading destinations, offering unique and rich travel experiences.

This year's ranking records significant changes in a number of popular tourist cities.

For example, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) dropped 30 places, from 7th place in 2023 to 37th place. Similarly, San Francisco (USA) also dropped 30 places, falling to 84th place.

In that context, Hanoi's stable and high position on the list is a proud achievement, demonstrating the sustainable appeal of the Vietnamese capital to international tourists.

The recognition from Telegraph Travel Awards 2025 is not only a source of pride for Hanoi but also an opportunity for the capital to continue affirming its position on the world tourism map.

Preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, while upgrading tourism infrastructure, will be the key for Hanoi to continue to shine. Sustainable tourism development projects, combining the protection of cultural heritage and improving the visitor experience, will help Hanoi maintain its long-term appeal.

Hanoi, with its poetic beauty, rich culture and friendly people, is increasingly becoming an indispensable destination in the journey of international tourists to explore Asia.

The honor from The Telegraph is a testament to the capital's great potential, and is also a motivation for Hanoi to continue to innovate, bringing unique and memorable experiences to visitors from all over the world.
