Hanoi has a scam of "transferring emergency money to children"
While at work, Ms. Hanh (living in Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) suddenly received a call from an unknown number informing her: "Your child fell during class and is currently being taken to the hospital. We need to urgently transfer 20 million VND for emergency treatment."
"Luckily, I heard about this scam and asked the teacher to confirm it," said Ms. Hanh, expressing her indignation that although she did not lose any money, she was still very uneasy and panicked when she was informed.
After appearing widely in the Southern region, a form of fraud requiring urgent money transfers for surgery for children has appeared in Hanoi, with a very sophisticated scenario.

At Chu Van An High School (Hanoi), two parents were texted by a bad guy impersonating a teacher or medical staff : "Your child had an accident and is in the emergency room. You need to transfer money immediately for hospitalization."
According to the school principal, after receiving the information, the first thing the school asked homeroom teachers to do was immediately notify the parents of all classes in the school and report to the authorities to promptly prevent this situation.
At the same time, late in the afternoon of March 13, the school sent a message to all parents of the school, clearly informing them of the incident.
Doctor shows how to verify information
Speaking with Dan Tri, a doctor from the Emergency Department of a hospital in Hanoi warned people not to be gullible with requests to transfer money first before family members can receive emergency care.

According to this doctor, if the cases are in an emergency, the hospital's procedures must prioritize emergency treatment for the patient first. There is no need for the family to pay or advance money before the doctors can begin treating the patient.
"Even if the patient's family members are not there, we will still perform emergency treatment as usual. Only after the family members arrive will we need to complete other procedures, including procedures related to insurance or hospital fees," said the doctor.
Therefore, this expert recommends that people need to be especially alert. In addition, when receiving calls/text messages saying that their children need emergency care, people should first contact the school directly, especially the homeroom teacher, to confirm the information, to avoid being taken advantage of by bad guys.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said it had received reports of people calling hospitals to "find their children for emergency care". Specifically, at Children's Hospital 1, within just one hour on March 6, the hospital's Emergency Department received two calls from parents asking about three cases of students studying at schools in the area who had been to the emergency room. All three of these cases were confirmed to be untrue.
Through the above cases, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has determined that the tricks used by bad guys are becoming more and more sophisticated and are directly targeting parents and students. The Department of Health recommends that people be cautious of fake information.
On March 10, the leader of Phan Boi Chau High School (Pleiku City, Gia Lai ) confirmed that in recent days, teachers and parents of the school have continuously received many scam calls with the trick "child is in emergency, need to transfer money urgently".
Accordingly, on March 9, a Literature teacher at Phan Boi Chau High School, who is also the parent of an 11th grade student at the school, received a call informing him that his child had fallen down the stairs and was being treated at the hospital, and needed to urgently transfer 20 million VND.
