HAGL makes V-League... absolutely cinematic again

HAGL's victory over The Cong Viettel in the 22nd round is not a big surprise because the mountain town team always knows how to make V-League... very unpredictable.

VietNamNetVietNamNet12/05/2025

1. In the 21st round, HAGL visited Quy Nhon Stadium to meet the host Binh Dinh Club and was rated higher in terms of performance, expertise as well as position on the rankings.

However, many people believe that coach Le Quang Trai's team will most likely only get a draw, instead of winning to quickly secure safety in the relegation race.

As expected, HAGL left Quy Nhon Stadium with a 1-2 defeat despite an early goal by Brandao. That victory also helped Binh Dinh shorten the gap with the safe group, before suffering a painful defeat against the opponent behind, Da Nang, in the next round.

HAGL can lose to weak teams

2. Facing The Cong Viettel at Pleiku Stadium in round 22, HAGL did not have the conductor and most important player - Chau Ngoc Quang, when he received a red card in the previous match.

The team from the mountain town is still depleted after losing young central defender Quang Kiet, who is playing well, due to receiving a number of penalty cards, so keeping 1 point against the away team that is competing for the championship is already a success.

However, contrary to expectations, HAGL had a different performance and was no less than coach Popov's team in terms of game play, especially they won dramatically, despite being rated very low before the match.

In theory, they are still not in the league, but with an 8-point gap from the play-off position while there are only 4 rounds left in the season, the team from the mountain town is considered very safe.

3. HAGL defeating The Cong Viettel may be considered a surprise, but looking back at most of the victories of Mr. Duc's team in the ongoing season, it is not.

But always know how to create highlights against strong new teams is unbelievable

This season, the team from the Mountain City has not lost absolute points against opponents considered stronger when winning or losing. The Cong Viettel, Hanoi or CAHN… have not been able to defeat HAGL in both matches, for example.

Even the team that is close to the championship like Nam Dinh had to share points in the first leg (the second leg has not been played yet), so saying that HAGL is clearly weak is not accurate.

In short, Mr. Duc's team is more unpredictable than anything else. And when this team is holding the advantage, the relegation race will be even more interesting to watch because most of the opponents that HAGL will face are in need of points to stay in the V-League.

How HAGL will play when they meet Da Nang, SLNA, and Quang Nam remains to be seen, but it is certain that the team from the mountain town will not be able to play as well as they did when they met the opponents in the upper group. Wait and see.
