VnExpressVnExpress27/05/2023

Da Nang HAGL took the lead but had to tie 1-1, even almost losing to home team Da Nang in the extra minute of round 9 of V-League 2023.

In the last minute of extra time, the referee awarded Da Nang a free kick on the right wing. The ball was pushed into the HAGL penalty area. Goalkeeper Huynh Tuan Linh rushed out and missed. But in front of the empty HAGL goal, striker Ha Minh Tuan headed the ball wide.

The 1-1 result means that Da Nang is still one of two teams, along with Binh Duong , that have not won in the 2023 V-League. Both have five points, but Da Nang is ranked higher, 12th due to a better goal difference (-4 compared to -6). Meanwhile, HAGL extended their winless streak to four matches, including three draws. Coach Kiatisuk and his team are currently ranked ninth, with the same 10 points as Khanh Hoa but ranked higher due to a better goal difference.

The match at Hoa Xuan Stadium saw HAGL dominate most of the time with 53% possession and seven shots - one more than Da Nang. Washington Brandao constantly tormented the home team's defense with his speed and power on both wings.

In the 11th minute, the Brazilian striker passed Mauricio Pinto on the left wing but goalkeeper Phan Van Bieu was able to close the angle. Then, Brandao did the same with Luong Duy Cuong on the right wing and passed to Paollo Oliveira. The ball was passed to Tran Minh Vuong to finish, but was blocked by a Da Nang defender.

In the 64th minute, Coach Kiatisuk sent 20-year-old striker Nguyen Quoc Viet onto the field. The U22 National Team player only needed one minute to make his mark. He chipped the ball behind the Da Nang defense for Brandao to break the offside trap and then shot a strong cross-angle shot, giving Van Bieu no chance to block.

After the opening goal, HAGL maintained their ball control style of play. Da Nang continued to play monotonously, but surprisingly equalized in the 70th minute with a long ball. From the left wing, Giang Tran Quach Tan rushed into the penalty area for Rodrigo Dias to press the HAGL defender and head the ball off the crossbar into the net.

The equalizer helped the home team at Hoa Xuan Stadium to boost their morale and play strongly in the last 20 minutes. They could have made a difference if Ha Minh Tuan had successfully taken advantage of the golden opportunity in the last minute.
