More fun shores
Identifying “traffic goes first to pave the way”, in recent years Hai Duong has always paid attention to developing widespread traffic infrastructure, creating inter-regional connections. In which, many bridges across rivers have been studied and invested to shorten the distance between localities in the province.
On the Hai Duong East-West axis road project that is being urgently completed, there are 6 connecting bridges, including 4 upgraded and expanded bridges and 2 newly built bridges. Of which, Bac Hung Hai bridge connecting Ha Ky and Phuong Ky communes of Tu Ky district has a large investment scale with construction and installation costs of nearly 200 billion VND. Currently, the construction unit is mobilizing maximum human resources and vehicles to urgently complete the project to put Bac Hung Hai bridge into operation as soon as possible.
The construction unit said that by October 8, Bac Hung Hai bridge had completed all 6 piers, M2 abutment, cast all SuperT girders, installed 3/4 spans, and cast all 3 spans. The estimated construction volume of the bridge reached about 90%, and is expected to be completed on October 30, 2024.
Mr. Tan Van Duan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuong Ky Commune (Tu Ky) said that in the past, people in Phuong Ky and Ha Ky communes crossed the river by the Mu pontoon bridge. However, the bridge is patchy, degraded, and potentially dangerous. "When Bac Hung Hai bridge is completed, the East-West axis will be open, shortening the travel time of people to neighboring areas. When trade is smooth, it will create a competitive advantage in local socio -economic development," said Mr. Duan.
Also a bridge in the East-West axis road project of the province, Phi Xa bridge connects Le Hong and Tu Cuong communes (Thanh Mien) across the Cuu An river. The bridge is 154 m long, 12 m wide; the total construction value is about 48 billion VND. Currently, Phi Xa bridge has been basically completed. Mr. Bui Van Tien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Hong commune (Thanh Mien) said that in the past, to go from Le Hong to Tu Cuong, people only had to go around Thanh Mien town and then cross Neo bridge with a distance of about 12 km. When Phi Xa bridge is completed, the distance between the two localities will be only a few hundred meters. Not only facilitating traffic and trade between the two localities, the bridge also contributes to creating a continuous traffic system, which is important in connecting Hai Duong with Hung Yen and Thai Binh provinces. The people of Le Hong commune are very excited, looking forward to the day the bridge is opened to traffic.
After more than 6 months of implementation, the Cay Bridge Construction Investment Project on the bypass of Highway 394 has reached about 45% of the volume. The construction site of Cay Bridge in Binh Giang District is always bustling and bustling with dozens of engineers and workers constructing many items.
The project is invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project is a level II plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h. The total length of the bridge is 182m with 4 spans built permanently with prestressed reinforced concrete, 30m wide, divided into 2 separate bridge units; the total construction value is nearly 140 billion VND. By early October, the construction unit had completed drilling all 12 M1 abutment piles, completed casting all 48 Supper T girders, and completed 32 bored piles of 2 piers under the river, ensuring the proposed progress. The Cay bridge project connecting Cam Dong commune (Cam Giang) and Hung Thang commune (Binh Giang) is expected to be completed in April 2025.
Investment interest
In the coming time, Hai Duong will continue to focus on investing in many bridges across the river connecting the two banks, creating a synchronous and continuous traffic infrastructure. Tan An Bridge and the approach road have their starting point intersecting with National Highway 18 in Van An Ward (Chi Linh), the end point connecting with the Investment Project to expand the approach road to Han Bridge, the section from the beginning of Han Bridge (Nam Sach District side) to the intersection of Provincial Road 390 and building a new route connecting the intersection of Provincial Road 390 to National Highway 18 invested by Nam Sach District People's Committee.
In the period of 2023-2025, Tan An Bridge will be built. The bridge is 574.6m long and 12m wide. The Tan An Bridge and the connecting road project to National Highway 18 (Chi Linh City) has a total investment of about 600 billion VND.
The investment in the construction of Tan An Bridge and the connecting road to National Highway 18 aims to gradually complete the inter-regional traffic axis, connecting National Highway 5 with National Highway 18 from Hai Duong City via Han Bridge, through Nam Sach District to Chi Linh City. When the bridge is put into use, it will reduce the load on the current traffic system, especially National Highway 37, gradually completing the regional traffic system according to the planning, creating conditions for expanding urban space, promoting socio-economic development of Chi Linh City and Nam Sach District.
Mr. Le Duc Bon, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Dau Ben Village, Hop Tien Commune (Nam Sach) said that the villagers are very excited because Tan An Bridge is about to be built. When the locality started site clearance work to serve the project, the villagers all agreed to support it. Hopefully, the bridge will be completed soon to serve the travel needs, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development.
The Van Bridge and Road Construction Investment Project connecting National Highway 37 (Chi Linh) with the Trieu Bridge approach road (Kinh Mon) is one of the intra-provincial bridge construction projects with the largest investment capital at present. The bridge has a route length of 12.97 km, with a total investment of more than 1,296 billion VND. According to the decision approving the investment policy, Van Bridge is built with a prestressed reinforced concrete structure, 12m wide, about 919m long... The bridge consists of 2 units, of which 1 unit will be built in the 2021-2025 period, and the remaining unit will be built in the 2026-2030 period.
The route and Van bridge connecting National Highway 37, Chi Linh city with the approach road to Trieu bridge, Kinh Mon town will create a traffic axis connecting Kinh Mon and Chi Linh urban areas, connecting National Highway 37 with existing provincial roads 389, 389B and planned routes (Ring Road V - Capital region - North - South axis of Hai Duong province). From there, a traffic route is formed connecting the northeastern districts of Hai Duong province with neighboring provinces and cities (Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong), creating inter-regional development space and attracting investment; contributing to promoting socio-economic development of localities.
Hai Duong is a province with a dense river network including the Thai Binh and Luoc rivers. In addition to 14 major rivers, Hai Duong also has dozens of inland rivers. This poses a significant pressure and challenge in completing the transport infrastructure because investing in bridges across rivers is relatively difficult and costly.
Over the years, with the attention of the Central Government, the province has always made efforts and prioritized investment in bridge construction. Hai Duong currently has 12 bridges across the Central River and 15 bridges across local rivers. The bridges basically ensure the traffic and travel needs of the people. Not only that, these bridges are also the fulcrum to promote socio-economic development for localities.
Hai Duong province currently has 12 large bridges on the provincial road system and national highways crossing central rivers. They are Phu Luong and Lai Vu bridges on national highway 5; Binh and Chanh bridges on national highway 37; An Thai, Hiep Thuong and Da Vach bridges on national highway 17B; Cay May on provincial road 389, Trieu bridge on the approach road to Trieu bridge; Han bridge on provincial road 390D; Hop Thanh and Quang Thanh bridges on provincial road 390.
15 major bridges on the provincial and national road system crossing local rivers include Phu Tao, Ram, Bia bridges on National Highway 37; Trang Thua, Neo bridges on National Highway 38B; Sat bridge on National Highway 38; Ghe bridge on National Highway 5; Lo Cuong bridge on Vo Nguyen Giap Avenue; Cay bridge on Provincial Road 394; Hong Duc, Cuu An bridges on the North-South axis; Di Linh bridge on Provincial Road 396; Van bridge on Provincial Road 392; Xe bridge on Provincial Road 391; Day bridge on Provincial Road 393.
Some typical intra-provincial bridge projects about to be implemented: Kinh Mon River overpass and access road connecting the interchange with National Highway 5; Thai Binh River overpass on Provincial Road 396 extension; Tan An Bridge and access road; Van Bridge; Thai Binh River overpass and access road belonging to Hai Duong City Ring Road I...
