Hai Phong inaugurated the Royal Bridge over 2,300 billion VND across the Cam River

On the morning of August 19, in Hai Phong, the Hai Phong City People's Committee coordinated with Vingroup Corporation to organize the inauguration ceremony of the construction of May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and the access roads on both sides of the bridge belonging to the Vu Yen Island Entertainment, Housing and Ecological Park Project (Vinhomes Royal Island).

This is one of 9 works and projects selected by the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize the groundbreaking and inauguration to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), in the form of direct and online at the same time. And is one of 3 main bridges connecting with the main bridge of the Government .

May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) invested by Vingroup Corporation, started construction in September 2023, with a total capital of more than 2,300 billion VND. This is the 6th bridge across the Cam River in Hai Phong. On March 15, the bridge was closed.

With a length of nearly 2.2 km, 21 m wide with 4 lanes, and 17.5 m wide approach bridges on both sides, the bridge starts on Vu Yen island and ends at the intersection with Le Thanh Tong street, shortening travel time from the island to the city center in less than 5 minutes.

In addition to opening the road, May Chai Bridge is also a new symbol of Hai Phong with a special design: the two towers at the bridgehead create a curved arch shape that evokes the image of a bird spreading its wings and flying high, while creating a "World Gateway Bridge" as a friendly invitation to breakthrough investment and business opportunities.

Looking horizontally at the bridge, the shape of each tower is inspired by the image of a bird's wings, expressing the desire to fly high. The space in the middle of the circular approach road is designed as a parking lot and an electric vehicle charging station.

Along with the opening of May Chai bridge, Hai Phong also plans to build an ecological park system, sports area, services, housing and multi-purpose works in the area south of Cam river, near the foot of Hoang Gia bridge, to create a highlight for the development of regional infrastructure.

In addition to the inauguration ceremony of the construction of May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and the access roads on both sides of the bridge, on this occasion, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City organized the groundbreaking ceremony of 2 other projects connecting the online bridge with the Government, including: Commencement of the T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport, Commencement of the Resettlement Area Construction Project of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project.

In addition, Hai Phong organized the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of 6 projects connecting the City's online bridges, including: Commencement of the National Highway 37 Bypass Project (section connecting Thong Nhat Bridge/National Highway 37 with Ring Road I); Commencement of the Project to build a traffic route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge;

Commencement of the Project to build a bridge over the Thai Binh River and access roads belonging to the Ring Road I, from Provincial Road 391 to Provincial Road 390C; Commencement of the Project to build a Martyrs' Temple and a cultural park in the West of Hai Phong;

Inauguration of the Investment Project to build the Dong Viet Bridge approach road connecting to National Highway 37; Inauguration of the Investment Project to build the Maternity Hospital Phase II.
