Hai Phong will demolish many illegal motels in Do Son

A series of motels and restaurants built without permission or without permits in Do Son district will be demolished to return the land to Hai Phong City for land auction.

On November 24, after inspecting the land asset management in Do Son district, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City, agreed in principle to handle the site clearance and prepare documents for auctioning land use rights for three 26-hectare plots of land for tourism purposes.

These are the land of the Do Son Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Center (belonging to the Ministry of Construction , transferred by the Prime Minister to Hai Phong City in August), the coconut tree area, and the old ward area, all in Van Huong ward, Do Son district. These areas are adjacent to each other, with many motels and restaurants attracting customers, and are called the "Ministry of Construction" area by local people.

Through inspection, Hai Phong City People's Committee determined that there were 25 households operating services here. The households' land lease contracts had expired but they had not returned the land; built restaurants and motels without construction permits and in violation of the granted permits; and did not fully fulfill their financial obligations regarding the land.

The city chairman requested Do Son district to review and cancel documents signed by agencies that were not in accordance with regulations with households, handle assets, and create a clean site before organizing land auctions. If households do not hand over the site, Do Son district will prepare a file for administrative sanctions and enforcement.

Assessing that the Do Son district government has been lax in managing land, construction and public assets, and has not thoroughly handled violations, the Chairman of Hai Phong City requested the Do Son District Party Committee to organize an inspection and consider the responsibilities of relevant groups and individuals.
