The City Party Committee's Propaganda Department has just coordinated with the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board to organize a conference to provide information on FDI attraction results; the project to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of the city and orientation of propaganda work in the coming time.
At the conference, Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, directly introduced and provided information on the results of FDI attraction in the city in recent times and the basic contents of the Project to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone.
A large number of delegates, reporters and reporters from press agencies attended the conference.
Accordingly, in the period of 2009-2023, Hai Phong city attracted 26.4 billion USD of FDI capital; thereby creating jobs for 200,000 workers. In the period of 2021-2023 alone, the city attracted 11.36 billion USD, always in the top 5 of the country in attracting FDI; of which in 2021 it reached 5.298 billion USD (leading the country in attracting FDI), in 2022 it reached 2.083 billion USD and in 2023 it reached 3.5 billion USD.
In addition, the city has always been proactive in attracting selective, quality foreign direct investment, in line with the city's economic restructuring orientation, meeting the requirements of sustainable development. Typical examples are LG Group (Korea) with 6 projects, total investment capital of over 7.24 billion USD; Bridgestone Group (Japan) with total investment capital of 1.22 billion USD; Regina Miracle Group (Hong Kong) with total investment capital of 1 billion USD; Pegatron Group (Taiwan) with investment capital of 800 million USD. Hai Phong strives for the FDI economic sector to contribute 35% to the city's GRDP by 2025.

According to Mr. Le Trung Kien, following the success of Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, in order to create new development space, in line with the trend, Hai Phong is proposing to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone. Up to now, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board has completed the project and has been approved by the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City Party Committee; at the same time, it is continuing to implement the following processes and procedures.
The Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong is expected to have an area of about 20,000 hectares in the districts of Vinh Bao, Tien Lang, An Lao, Kien Thuy, and Do Son district. The Southern Coastal Economic Zone is expected to be established with a coastal expressway and 2 railway lines (Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong; Nam Dinh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh) passing through and has subdivisions such as: Nam Do Son Port (planned as an international gateway port and domestic and international transit), Tien Lang International Airport, free trade zone, urban area, etc.

The establishment of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone is one of the main solutions to help Hai Phong complete its mission of becoming a modern, smart, and sustainable industrial city of Southeast Asian stature according to the Central Government's policy and the city's goals.
