According to THX, an anonymous source from the Hamas Islamist movement said on the afternoon of November 24 that the process of transferring 13 Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip to Egypt has begun under a temporary ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

According to the source, the International Committee of the Red Cross is in charge of transferring these hostages, and is currently taking them to the Rafah border gate.

The source also added that the Al-Qassam Brigades transferred to Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing 12 Thai citizens who were arrested in southern Israel on November 7.

In related developments, the Times of Israel on the morning of November 24 quoted a government source as confirming that the temporary ceasefire agreement with the Hamas Islamist movement includes a commitment by both sides to allow International Red Cross staff to visit hostages being held in the Gaza Strip. However, due to confidentiality reasons, these contents have not been made public.

In addition, Thai media on the same day quoted Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news agency, based in London (UK), saying that Hamas forces may release 23 Thai hostages in a side deal brokered by Iran.

On the same day, November 24, Reuters reported that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that a future Palestinian state could be demilitarized and have a temporary presence of international forces to ensure security for both Palestine and Israel.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, President al-Sisi said: “We have said that we are ready to demilitarize the (future) Palestinian state and also have security forces, whether NATO, UN, Arab or American, until we achieve security for both states: the young Palestinian state and the state of Israel.”

According to the Egyptian leader, a political solution requiring a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, remains out of reach.

In a related development, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on November 24 that the current ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza is a "short pause", after which Israel will continue the campaign with full military force.

The statement was made by Minister Gallant during a meeting with his Italian counterpart who is visiting Tel Aviv.

Under a ceasefire and hostage release deal, Israel is set to receive 13 hostages freed from Gaza in exchange for the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners.

“There will be a short pause and then we will continue the operation (against Hamas) with full military force. We will not stop until we achieve our objective and bring the hostages back from Gaza,” Gallant said.

Earlier on November 24, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that the force will comply with the ceasefire and the agreement to release hostages as long as Israel also complies with these agreements.

Israel and Hamas have reached a five-day ceasefire agreement, on the condition that Hamas releases 50 Israeli and foreign hostages in exchange for the release of 300 Palestinian children and women being held by the Israeli government.

Among the 50 hostages released will be no military personnel.
