On May 8, the film project co-produced between Vietnam and Korea called “Mang me di bo” was officially announced. Directly taking on the role of director and screenwriter for the film is Mo Hong Jin - who attracted attention with the psychological work “The Last Wish of Prisoner 2037” (My Girl) in 2022.
“Mang me di bo” is the director’s passionate project with all his love for Vietnam after 3 years of nurturing. The film was developed entirely from the original script, with Korean filmmakers painstakingly researching and drawing inspiration from the people, lifestyle, and culture of Vietnam.
From the initial goal, the crew wanted to create a Vietnamese-Korean cooperation film that is close and friendly to Vietnamese audiences in particular and the world in general. The film has an emotional story about family - a familiar element that anyone, regardless of language or nationality, can understand and sympathize with.
Director Mo Hong Jin shared: “After releasing the film “Prisoner’s Last Wish 2037” in 2022, I came to Vietnam for the first time in November and started to have feelings for this country. As a lover of family films, I wanted to tell a warm and humane story in Vietnam. In addition, I felt that the culture of this young country was developing very strongly, and I also wanted to accompany that flow.”
In the first poster, "Mang me di bo" officially revealed the faces of 4 participating actors from 2 countries Vietnam - Korea, including: Hong Dao, Tuan Tran, Juliet Bao Ngoc and Jung Il Woo.

Actress Hong Dao appeared in a wheelchair, suggesting to the audience the role of a mother with a serious illness, while Tuan Tran, in the role of the son, was expressing his care and love for his mother. This was also the first time the "mother and son pair" Hong Dao - Tuan Tran reunited after the success of "Mai" - the highest-grossing film in Vietnam to date with 520 billion VND.
Next is "muse" Juliet Bao Ngoc with a loving image with actor Jung Il Woo. In this project, Jung Il Woo is a rare Korean actor to participate. The male actor is affectionately called "Vietnamese son-in-law" by Vietnamese audiences after a series of famous films: "Gia Dinh La So 1" (Unstoppable High Kick), "49 Days" (49 Days), "Moon Embracing The Sun" (Moon Embracing The Sun)... In particular, after the cross-Vietnam trip that caused a stir on social networks in mid-2024, the male star's name became known to more and more Vietnamese audiences.
On the occasion of the project "Mang me di bo" announcing its first information, Jung Il Woo also made a video to officially greet the Vietnamese audience with promising shares about the film. "When I read the script, I thought I wanted to participate in this work. In addition, Vietnam and Korea do not have many collaborative projects like this. That is why our film will mark a new beginning. So Vietnamese audiences, please look forward to the film. We will truly bring a quality film that you will not regret watching" - the actor said.
