Yonhap News Agency reported on December 30 that the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) issued heavy snowfall warnings in many areas of the Seoul metropolitan area, while many other regions across the country are expected to see snowfall or rain before the New Year 2024.
The warning will be in effect from 9 a.m. in northeastern and western Seoul, as well as in Incheon, west of the capital, and parts of neighboring Gyeonggi Province, according to the KMA. The warning is issued when snowfall of 5 centimeters or more is expected within 24 hours.
In addition, the KMA forecasts light rain of less than 0.1 mm or snowfall of less than 0.1 cm in the eastern parts of Gyeonggi Province and South Chungcheong Province. The KMA also noted that heavy snowfall warnings may be issued in other areas in the Seoul area and many areas deep in eastern Gangwon Province due to heavy snow clouds coming from the Yellow Sea.
